I realize that there are people who rarely or never swear, yes.

And you know what?

If I notice it enough, it unnerves me too.

...which ties in nicely with one of my weak spots for comedy: profanity that is so extreme as to become ridiculous, borderline nonsensical (as when Randall reads the porn titles in front of that kid in "Clerks" and the titles become progressively more unhinged. I didn't watch that scene, I survived it).

And tying this back to The Wire: There's also a famous scene where the two detectives are investigating the scene of a murder and the only thing they say is "Fuck" over and over in all kinds of different intonations.

This sounds like a show that I should eventually check out.

Back in the early '90s, while hanging with some buddies we did a similar thing with "Dude".  This is probably not a unique experience.

It is a universal experience, that bonds us all as humans.

Dude is the perfect word, capable of expressing any sentiment or emotion. It is the Higgs-Boson of words.

If the human race experiences speciation through space colonization, there will be a planet that adapts to communicate entirely though this word.

I wonder what other words do this...

I wonder if Classical Roman legionaries sat around in their barracks playing this same game with some Latin word.

EDIT: All like,

Amicus.
Amicus!
Amicus...
Amicus.
Aaaaamiiiiicuuuuus!!!

Have you ever heard an owl swear?

I do not think you have.

Is it just me or do the two strips frequently update on the same day? Has this been pointed out before?

That fanny pack will come in handy pulling himself around the house, I imagine.
