Sometimes I have a fear that I'm going to come here one day and every other word is going to be filtered.

There is a place here now where an entire section of the menu is devoted to grilled cheese. You can get a sandwich/soup/salad combo, pick 2 for $10 or pick 3 for $12, something like that. I had a spinach salad and a good-ass sandwich: brie, bacon, and apple chutney, grilled on buttery texas toast.

A+++ Would Nosh Again.

I am pretty sure I mentioned the deal about the double-burger with grilled-cheese sandwiches for buns.

i had an easter leftovers sangwich that was some sliced ham and (easter)egg salad on pumpernickel/rye bread.  happy breakfast to me.  my room is going to be a sulfurous poo-gas clam-bake when my guts begin to activate it.  hopefully i am asleep by then.

Mmmm.  I have an easter ham sandwich for lunch today too.  Also easter potato salad and the last deviled egg.

The ham was great.  I took a spiral sliced ham from the K-Roger and smoked it over charcoal and hickory for four hours instead of heating it in the oven.  Tastyness!

If it tasted anything like this I think I could eat it literally everyday.

planning an expedition to local banh mi place. I love these sandwiches, but my American gut wants them to be about twice as big.

In Chicago we went to a place that advertised "vegan banh mi," and luckily The Lady was advised by a local that by "vegan" they mean "vegetable banh-mi, cooked in pork fat." Yikes. She got the one that our local friend guaranteed was actually vegetarian, and says the tofu tasted exactly like pork. So who knows what was going on there.

Have I shared the recipe for BSTMs before? Bacon, spinach, tomato, fresh mozzerella, grilled like a grilled cheese. It can also be made with prosciutto instead of bacon, if you're fancy, in which case it (obviously) becomes a PSTM. We had it for dinner tonight with some mediocre sweet potato fries, but the standout this time was the spinach. It was fresh from the local produce co-op (nothing like getting a box of veggies with the dirt still on 'em) and it was just so crisp and bitey I hardly noticed the bacon.

Fantastic.

So order two. Aren't they like two dollars each?

Sometimes it's because the vegetarian person no longer has a clue what pork tastes like. And sometimes... is it evil to want to laugh if they actually ate pork without knowing?

There is something offensively precious to me about the idea of a vegan banh mi.  It should not be allowed.

I just want to understand why it was called "vegan" if it was made with pork. What do they think that word means?
