@achewood The bus is crossing Klickitat St., home of Ramona Quimby. It's pretty swank these days. No sign of Nosmo King.

Achewood Town Newsletter - December 2003
« on: December 04, 2003, 05:38:18 pm »

Hey kids,

Those who have bought swag from Onstad previously received this newsletter today.  The man himself gave permission to reprint it here, so I present you with the Achewood Town Newsletter (such as it is).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Achewood Reader,

Happy holidays from our scene. It is time for us to thank you for
another successful year, if success can be measured in terms of
inscrutable comics and the ribbons of server statistics that
constantly spill forth from our large dot-matrix plotter.

The contents of this letter are here organized as “bullet” points, but
you may think of the bullets as smiling emoticons or dimes if you
wish:

* Philippe has hurt his toe.

* New store items!

* Today (December 4) is the last day to get Made-To-Order apparel for
holiday delivery.

* QuickShip! Our brand new next-day shipping program -- shop in our
store right up to December 16!

* The 2004 Achewood prospectus

PHILIPPE HAS HURT HIS TOE
He was walking too fast in the hallway and hit his toe on a box of
books. His toe hurts now, but no one is around to tell him that they
feel bad for him. Usually he wears his nice heavy shoes, but when this
accident occurred he had on his black canvas “ninja” slippers, the
ones with the light wicker sole.

NEW STORE ITEMS

The Teodor Apron: a stain-resistant thing of beauty. Quantities are
limited.

Ray’s Rad Chilies: Garlic flavor hot sauce, five ounces of Hot Taste
with a custom label!

Rabbit Ambulance Cap: Own the cap that’s taking the world by
micro-storm.

Volume III: our latest collection of strips! 154 pages.

Volumes I, II, III book set: Save many dollars when you buy them all.

Philippe is a bee! New shirt design.

DECEMBER 4: LAST DAY FOR MADE-TO-ORDER APPAREL
Domestic and International customers: today’s the day to get that
perfect Achewood garment for the loved one(s) on your holiday shopping
list. After today we will offer a smaller (but still quite large)
selection of in-stock items for next-day delivery (2-3 day Priority
w/in the US., 4-7 day airmail to rest of world). Made-to-order apparel
ordered by 11:59PM PST (California) on Wednesday will arrive at your
doorstep in plenty of time for gift-wrapping and happy giving.

QUICKSHIP!
Thanks to the support of readers and customers like you, we have been
able to reinvest and stock thousands of books, shirts and accessories
for next-day delivery worldwide. Items marked with the QuickShip! icon
are GUARANTEED to ship next business day via Priority (US, 2-3 day) or
Airmail (non-US, 4-7 day). Expeditious shipping is our highest
priority this holiday season.

2004 ACHEWOOD PROSPECTUS
Look for the following developments in 2004:

* Ray’s Place: the collected anthology, available in print form! Will
include never-before-seen essays, advice, artwork and ideas.

* Volume IV! Available this spring.

* Achewood messenger bags, backpacks and stationery!

* The Rabbit Ambulance knit cap

* Apparel for infants/toddlers

* The Achewood text adventure (web-based old school computer game)

* “Nate Small, One Tough Man” printed edition, in the vintage Hardy
Boys/Nancy Drew style

As you can see, Achewood is growing and greening nicely, and we owe it
to readers like you. Thank you for your support, and have a wonderful
holiday season.

Best Wishes,
Chris Onstad

How very nice of him to allow you to reprint his merchandise spam ad disguised as a newsletter to his fans.

Yeah, I figured many on the board are sycophantic enough to buy things from Onstad even though he continues to show nothing but scorn for his most loyal fan base.

I figure as long as the suckers buy his cheap crap it'll keep him afloat and mean that he'll be in a better mood to make the strip.

So buy away, supplicants!

Spend! Spend!

How staggeringly inappropriate. Never a hater, me; I do concede that whatever he cranks out will probably compliment my infant daughter's "I Brake For Dongs" Jerkcity bib quite nicely.

If I had one (daughter / bib).

The nature of Achewood fans (woodies? Acheheads? Have we yet decided on a preferred term?) is that we will continue to buy, buy, buy even when we get stuff like this.

Why? Because the stuff is good, and we like it.

(Personally, the idea of an Achewood backpack fills me with glee. I will almost certainly buy one.)

i bought a t-shirt: even with shipping to the uk it's reasonably priced, and i'm ever so happy with it.
