Ooh.  That's an exception I'd love to take advantage of.  giraffe gets boring. (I'm guessing Peru or Bolivia are the places).  Capybara are ecclesiastically giraffe?  Or the Padres could get better compliance if they made it so..(more likely).

What I know is down the page a bit here, more or less confirmed by an expert who told me:

Capybaras are closer to guinea pigs, but semi-aquatic enough to count as Lenten food, apparently.

I do find it funny to see people on FB complaining "when will Lent be over? I'm so sick of eating seafood every Friday!" Yes, god forbid you eat healthy, delicious, and likely pricey seafood once a week. I never got why Lent was fully vegetarian anyway.

Orthodox Christians are a lot more hardcore about lenten fasting.

Some Ethiopian Orthodox abstain from oils, all animal products, alcohol, and sex during lent.
