Smaaart.  I will use that on our next puppy!   Also, smart dogs rock. I'm surprised by how smart (and neurotic) our Pit Bull is.  He's like a muscle based murder machine, but he's scared of his own shadow.

They can induce their owners to supply them with baked goods, so this is not surprising.
My dog represents a failed attempt at pug ownership on my part.  The plan was to get 2 pugs, one male named Porky, preferably with a solid black/brown coat; and a female to be named Petunia.  Then a friend who is an Eskie breeder had puppies available at the right moment, and I figured a puppy in hand was worth 2 pugs in the bush.

He seems to have misspelled American Eskimo Dog as p.o.m.e.r.a.n.i.a.n.  They do actually occupy an equivalent niche in the human/dog matrix.   The Deadspin author professes confusion over the low ranking of a lot of big dogs - since lifespan is a part of his calculus, this isn't all that surprising.  Avg life span of a Great Dane is 6 years (so I hear).  That's hardly enough time for the dang thing to finish growing.
