@achewood I am composing a tone poem about eagles, lawnmowers, and Ted Nugent. It is composed only of the sounds of those things.

I still think Dan the Goat getting his head stuck in a poultry feeder is the funniest thing ever.

He basically asked for help with his predicament:

In the background you can see Red almost laughing out loud at him.

Cattle Dhog is only six years old. Last month he started losing weight and his appetite went away. Did a hospital thing and got him stable, but everything came back nope, nope, nope. So we haven't been able to get a real diagnosis.

He leveled off for a month (Vet thinks the steroids helped him) but started crashing again over the weekend. Went to the Vet this morning thinking we were going to have to put him down, but we're throwing another big dose of steroids to see if we can pull him out again. If he seems a little better tomorrow I'll make an appointment with an internist and see if we can get some traction.

Best goddam dog ever, I guess I better hope we figure it out.

[update] He followed me by the fridge this morning and gave me a look. So I offered him up some tidbits of shredded chicken and he went for it. Maybe we got some action on this.

[update update] He's been getting a cupful of chicken and rice every three or four hours. Now whenever I slow down near the fridge, he trots over, sits down and gives me the very pointed food stare.

Thanks man, he's still with us for now.

We did another round of tests and it's come down to "I don't know for sure" from the internal medicine specialist.

Could be a thyroid lesion, but it presents some aspects of that which don't fit. Could be lymphoma but not all those aspects fit.

Either way, I don't believe in surgery or chemo for pets, it's quality over quantity for us. So we're going to do a daily steroid because it seems to help and monitor his ionized calcium and ride this out as far as we can.

Yesterday I cooked up one of the shit-headed roosters and went and sat on the back porch with him and fed all the meat and skin to him. He liked that a lot.
