This weekend's episode of family tech support:

Got a text. "Something's wrong with my computer. My friend Anne sent me a e-card, and now all my e-mails show up as her. I can't even connect to blah blah blah site to pay a bill."

Hmmmm. Perhaps the e-card installed a virus?
Or maybe somehow she got signed in as Anne, and she just needs to sign out and sign back in. I'll have her do that before I go over to her house.

Yeah, it was that second one. She neglected to mention that Anne was AT HER HOUSE and USED HER COMPUTER, not just that she got a message from this person. Log out of Yahoo Mail, then log back in AS YOU, and miraculously it will work as expected again.

hmm. Second WiFi extender in two years has stopped working, in the same weird way both times. I'm sure I'm doing something silly but I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is.

I got a wifi extender, but it seemed to cause more problems than it solved. Moving the router higher off the floor has helped extend the range without the devices sometimes getting confused about what they're connecting to. And so far the cats haven't knocked the router off the mantle.

Figured it out (it was trying and failing to open a pop-up, and when it failed it did not indicate the failure, it just sat there doing nothing). In the process I reached behind the router to hit the power button and knocked my ownly framed wall decoration off the wall, breaking the frame in half.

Frustrating few hours. But now i have internet in my bedroom.

More unclear is why I need a wifi extender for a 3 bedroom apartment.
