Is anyone else rooting HARD for a team to make the playoffs outta the NFC West with a losing record?

Am I the only sick fuck who has always wanted to see this?

Nope. Me too. I want to see an 11-5 team have to go on the road to play a 7-9 team, and just brutalize them in from of the hometown fans.

Hell, I want to see a 7-9 team go on a tear and get to the Super Bowl, if not win it outright.  Just so we can have absolute media spasms about how the NFL playoff system is broken and how to fix it.

And we can hear, again, how the Oakland Raiders won it all as a wild card team.

Ryan Leaf to pen three autobiographies.

Maybe, Ryan, that could be just one book. Or, better, a pamphlet. Or, better still, some graffiti on the back of the Great Falls bus station.

A law in all pro sports where if you don't have a winning percentage over .500, your playoff spot is vacated and the playoffs are re-seeded accordingly would be AWESOME.

Of course, I'm the guy who believes that baseball, hockey and baseball all need to contract to 24 teams and the NFL expand to 40 teams.

I got weird ideas.

But I'd be an INTERESTING Commissioner of All Sports, anyway.

My radical idea to fix the NBA:  The first three quarters of most NBA games are complete bullshit, right?  It's played at half- to three-quarter speed, and then in the fourth they finally get serious.  My idea:  instead of a single, four-quarter game, play a best of five set where each game is 12 minutes.  Like a volleyball match.  (OT of each individual game would only be one, maybe two minutes.)  W-L in the standings would be based on sets, while individual game records would be the first tiebreaker.

Oh man.

I guess that the free-throw-shooting-contests at the end of all NBA and major college basketball games bore me so much that I reflexively didn't write it.

If there was some way to have that not happen, I could enjoy basketball a LOT more.

Well, yeah - but I'm a Niner's fan so the record weirdness isn't my principal reason.

So, anyone have Arizona's defense this week?

Merry Christmas! Kitna wants 30,000 passing yard before he retires and he's whipping the damn thing everywhere.

Pick-sixes for everyone!

Kitna is going to be just the most garbagey QB in a list of good ones. 4 sacks and two pick-sixes in like 20 minutes.

Also, when you only have one good player on your team, you should try to get the ball to him.

No need for me to pull for the Raiders next week, so that's a relief.

Eliminated by the Bengals.  Apt for this season, though.  In fake internet football news, it's a real shame that a D that produced 4 points would've been my best choice this week.  I'm still hoping for a bailout game by Vick on Tuesday now.
