harry potter blah blah 1 - meh, the rest better be worth it. this one was twilight at hogwart's: brooding, full of gray, blue, black, and rain. and for fuck's sake put the shakycam back in the steadicam rig.

I love the way Eastwood grunts in that movie.  Totally reminds me of an old guy I was quite fond of back in the day.

eastwood played gruff, carmudgeon-y dudes, even when he was not old.

I finally watched The Seven Year Itch this time home. Not what I expected, and good, but not quite good the way I thought it would be. Pretty strange movie.

I also watched Mrs. O'Malley and Mr. Malone, which clearly was an attempt to come up with another movie series after Ma & Pa Kettle. Interesting to see James Whitmore as a young man.

I watched that also very recently.  For some reason I had never seen any Marilyn Monroe movies before other than The Misfits because I had heard it was good (It is) and Some Like it Hot because I'm a big Jack Lemmon fan.  I guess I assumed that aside from the eye candy they probably sucked.  Seven Year Itch doesn't suck exactly, but it's not great either.  Marilyn Monroe is super fine though. no doubt.

I've also recently seen Bus Stop (campy and pretty weird, but entertaining), Gentleman Prefer Blondes (Just two days ago, actually.  Vapid and ridiculous, but a lot of fun), and Don't Bother to Knock which was a damn good film.

We have a big stack of MM's movies, but I think I've only seen Itch and Hot so far. I thought Itch was pretty good, but not because of her. Although she was herself in it, which is sort of always nice. I read up a little on the film and she was starting to come apart during the filming of it and scenes would routinely require 40 takes. That would be tough.

just got back from tron:legacy in imax 3d. i went in with low expectations, and enjoyed the hell out of it. there's a bit of an uncanny valley problem in some scenes, but everything else was just about perfect *IF* you fondly remember the original and acknowledge all its flaws *OR* you never saw it in the first place and are a preteen boy.

the daft punk soundtrack is amazing. the effects are fantastic, save the uncanny valley.

I don't think I'll bother seeing the movie but i think the soundtrack is going to be a new years gift to myself.

Saw The Fantastic Mr. Fox last night.  Found it boring.  It was interesting, because it had the look of a Wes Anderson movie, which I've always enjoyed the intricacies of, yet something about it was totally unengaging for me.  Huh.

Also saw The Social Network.  It was okay.  I sort of felt like I'd seen enough of the "it's lonely at the top" style stories that this one didn't really blow me out of the water.  I have known a few socially inept geniuses in my time that I felt the portrail was some what accurate, if a bit one sided.

Beleive: The Eddie Izzard Story-a documentary about some dude.  its rather touching when he talks about his mom.

Champion-a documentary about danny trejo.  he is an amazing, amazing guy!  hell of inspirational.

Love Eddie Izzard. I think I mentioned elsewhere that I just saw Freaks.

I love that movie.  Freaks is such a great early film.
