RT@achewood Would The Pet Shop Boys be nice to have over for Thanksgiving, or would they be a pain in the ass? It's really hard to tell.

I should probably de-lurk before this thing takes off without me.  I'm kind of tired of the old Phlogistons moniker, though.  This year my team will be Fun on Mars.

So, as of this minute we are one day and twenty-three hours from the first pitch, as far as I can tell. We have eight teams (in one division). I think I will give it until the end of business today (approximately ten more hours) and I will finalize the league and turn on draft-ready status. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread over the course of the next day, but I have to go wireless to turn on the draft as the site is blocked here at work. Hopefully the wireless won't go down.

I like live drafts, but I haven't really seen where other people are that into it. I don't mind doing it, I just won't be able to take part unless it's like 1 am eastern.

I'd just as soon auto-draft. I just didn't want to miss it if there was a live one.

What AW said.  I have no time to sweat a live draft right now.

It is done, and let Cthulu have mercy on our souls. Sometime between now and Sunday we should have our draft.

Auto draft also lets me blame the computer for my lousy team instead of my crappy baseball knowledge!

I apologize for that - I thought a week was long enough, and we had an even number of teams so I thought it was a good time to pull the trigger as the season starts tomorrow or some such. If someone else wants to join and everybody is up for it, I think I can reopen the registration.

So I had this whole great plan for opening day at Nats Park.  Take the day off work, go to Ted's Bulletin for breakfast, then go to the Ugly Mug and drink mid-day beers before heading to the ballpark.

But now it's fuck*ng raining and the fuck*ng thing may be rained out.  They have an off-day built in to the schedule for just these kind of circumstances, so I can take off Friday and do it then instead. But right now the plan is to go to the downtown office instead of Ted's Bulletin, and either wait for them to say it's rained out, in which case I work tomorrow, or go hang around the ballpark on a shitty rainy day if they decide to try to play it.

Really, the idea of taking a full day off work and not giving a shit was just as important, if not more so, than the baseball.

Is there a way where you can go in to work and still not give a shit? Because that's what I do and, although it isn't optimal, it gets me through the day.
