I want to say that stupid thing people say, that she actually looks like you. Am I crazy?
Yes, she really, really does, which adds to the "you are tasked with keeping this tiny person alive" stress, because
she's a little mini me staring back at me, all innocent and totally trusting. Imagine a tiny, helpless version of yourself that you carry around and feed with one of your bodily fluids. If parenting weren't an every day occurrence, the weirdness of it would be something out of a David Lynch film. She stares at my face, I stare back - mirroring without a mirror. "I'm a little you! You wouldn't hurt a little you, would you?" It's actually a really weird test of ego, and definitely a tad surreal.
She looks entirely like me, but she sleeps and farts like my hubby - hard in both cases. I've been in so many situations with friends where they are wondering if their kid has pooped, sniffing butts, unbundling to check, etc. There is no question of that with this kid so far - she sharts so loud I hear it across the room, while the dish washer is going and I'm running sink.
As for kisses, I kiss her so much. So many baby kisses.
Much of this post was typed with my right hand, while holding her with the other.
