FYI since they raised the rates you no longer get a bonus for putting in $20.

Or, if that makes no sense, until last year if you put a 20 in the machine you actually got $22 or so of credit. But they took that away last summer. So now $20 is just $20.

FYI, my S.O. may join us. She really likes ethiopian and is trying to decide if getting to go eat it with me outweighs the awkwardness of not knowing any of you people.

Plus she has a book club meeting that day so it depends on timing.

We at least talk to us people here. And have the common ground of Achewood (she's only read the first 2 books).

Although I tell her we met online so this should be fine. She's not reassured because what if all of you turn out to be just like me. That would be frightening.

Aww.  Well the vison in my eye has actually come back a bit on its own - it can't do anything close to what one would call "seeing" - but I can see Vaselineated shapes of light and stuff now.  Dr. Second Opinion said that's a good sign and was 100% confident that the old-school procedure should work just fine.

I'll find out at an ungodly hour tomorrow.

I'll think happy thoughts for you guys.  I would've liked to have been a part of the first offline TOUAMB meeting, but 'twas not in the cards.

Just wave to me from the top of the Washington monument. ;)

Meh.  I went through the five stages of grief over my cyclopshood over a few hours.  Anger is the one that keeps coming back, followed up promptly by hella depression.

So now that it's gone, I'm all for just doing whateverthefuck I can to get it back.  I mean, the failure of any future procedure could almost not possibly make it worse - so I'm hopeful that the effects can be reversed.  

The docs have been right about everything so far - just that I happened to be in that 20% - it was a 1 in 5 shot of this happening - you roll the dice, you can't really blame anyone else for the outcome.

I mean, my sight was failing anyway - at least this way I won't look back 5 years from now and say "I wish I'd try to do something back when there was a possibility of doing it - now I'm a blind motherfucker like Lt. Col. Frank Slade (retired).

I've taken to saying "hoo-ha" but since I'm only out one eye I just say "hoo."
