Man, of course Ray would have wax recordings on his iPod.
I can't imagine Ray would be into that group sex thing either. You can't pull off classy stunts like cigarette writin' with some other dude humping away, all up in your business (maybe literally) and cramping your style.
-
Group sex for cats has to be kind of awkward. You know, on account of the barbs?
Yeah, I went there.
-
lord, group sex. what a concept.
Weirdly, I remember a group-sex story from a book about the blues which I read. Or... maybe it was a guy's mom, claiming that he was Robert Johnson's kid, and that she remembers it because she had sex with R Johnson along with this other couple going at it.
One of the two.
-
It's just like people I've known who've tried (via the bisexuality of multiple parties involved) to do the complex relationship thing. Three or four people all living together, all gettin' it on with all the other ones. On the face of it, it sounds really hot and sexually-unboring but...
Just more people to argue about dishes and rent with, ultimately.
Sex + Time = Arguin' Over Bills
(Sex + Time) X More People = More Arguin' Over Bills

Hi. Yea. I did that one upon a time. What you've described here, totally the case. Also, when you get an argument between two of the people, the third can either pick a side, referee, or get out of dodge. Any of the above suggestions are really uncool for at least someone involved.
Man I don't miss those days. Not one bit.
Not even the sex. Honestly, the entire arrangement made me uncomfortable. Which is funny considering I was living the "male pig" dream, right? I just had this constant nagging thought that "This...this will end in tears."
-
Yeah, in my experience group sex itself can be fairly pleasant and uncomplicated, but trying to maintain an ongoing polyamorous relationship is something else entirely. I've never had a living situation like that, so I can't comment on the consequences for chores/bills related arguments. I do know, though, that it's hard enough to maintain balance in a relationship between two people. You want to try to keep it so A's feelings for B and B's feelings for A are both qualitatively and quantitatively similar, and that's tough. Throw in a third person, and all of the sudden there are six different crushes involved, and keeping them all on the same level seems basically impossible. It's like, imagine that you're on a double date, and one couple is completely infatuated and conjoined and won't shut up about the planet-conquering proportions of their love, while the other couple is actually feeling kind of lukewarm. It could be awkward, right? Now imagine that both of the lukewarm people are also hypothetically dating both of the obsessed people. And now imagine that your entire love life is like that.
So yeah. Group sex? Not so bad. But group romance? Dear lord spare me from that awful group romance.

This thread is making me feel that my youth was tragically wasted. Or maybe I am just so old that we didn't do that sort of thing, back in the wax recordings days.

I've seen some vintage images and Wonder Woman comics that make me think that sort of thing was definitely done back in wax recording days
-
dang, I have no desire to ever date more than one person.
Unless it could be hell of Polygamous stylezz, me being all "woman, it is your turn tonight" and them all serving me and shit. And me all speaking Arabic to them, also. Hm. This could happen.
and realistically, that would turn on me pretty quickly.

Oh man, read the Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Moulton_Marston) entry on the co-creator of Wonder Woman. That entry is one of the less prurient capsules I've read about him.
Edit: Also, looking at http://antipolygraph.org/documents/marston-fbi-file.pdf (http://antipolygraph.org/documents/marston-fbi-file.pdf), which is the FBI file for him. On page 17 you can see where he wrote a letter to the President of the U.S. and had a typo in the first line. Email did not herald the death of writing and letters.
-
I don't think I've seen Lyle's ears before. Funny to think about how earbuds would work on a (stuffed) tiger's physique.

A can for this.
-
2 things to say:
-surprise parties where you think you're going to have paperwork to do for the radio station but instead it's free beer = the shit.
-stroh's (I am confused about this, because the internet is telling me that it is pretty good. the guys said it was "cheap shit"), Old Style, and Stag. All pretty... disgusting. But I am experiencing a pretty nice feeling right now, I will not lie about this.
to bring this on-topic: thanks for the can, vivouk. also, has anyone seen "Mother of the Bride?" It was this 1950's movie from Egypt, and it was fantastic. A pretty good portrayal of the bizarre marriage thing going on over there ("he asked my dad if he could marry me! how romantic!" and then the mom is saying to the dad "you asked her if she wanted to marry him? you're so progressive and romantic!") I am real mad that I never got to see the end. Maybe the guy would have also had a different wife? In addition?
-
I've always enjoyed Strohs. Similar to Miller High Life, but more robust.
-
Stroh's and Old Style are cheap shit. I haven't heard of the last one, but with a name like Stag, if it's in a can, it's cheap shit.
Cheap shit tends to be disgusting. That nice feeling right there? Yeah, that's the reason we drink beer. Save up, and get a couple nice sixes instead of a cheap case. Is your school anywhere near a beer store? Not a liquor store, but the place all bottles are sold singly and you mix a six? Those are great for calm in-room BYOB record-listening Saturday nights when you don't feel like really partying. Not that I had many of those before senior year :)
I'll look up beer stores in St. Louis and see if I can't find something for you.
Update: Sorry, I couldn't find any, but Google's kind of starting to suck. Also, whatever the hell "Spooty's" is it sure sounds interesting. Anybody know anything about that place?
-
yeah, um, basically my source for beer is a guy on my hall who is 21. sometimes he will buy stuff for us.
-
Then you shouldn't even be drinking! Tsk, tsk.
-
We just keep cycling back to drinking, don't we?
Is it because it's the holidays?
-
Someday, my job will release its 24/7 grasp on me, and I can get down to 1 or 2 mellow room spins.
-
let's be honest: it is because I keep bringing it up. sorry.
...for some reason I convinced myself it would be better to post it here than to go back to the old thread. silly me.
-
Nah, it's alright. I'd rather talk about underage drinking, than my past runins with "that awful group romance".
Old Timey Drinking Advice: Since you're now entering this undiscovered country of drinking, at some point soon you will find yourself all manners of fired up, and ready to just start pouring the devil water into your mouth. Resist this urge. Slow and steady, m'boy, speed kills. Or at least, I've had a few mornings where I had wished it had killed me. I still don't heed this advice all the time, when I do get around to some drinkin'. But, you know, tuck that away.

See, being a theatre person, I've encountered a few of groups of the "we all fuck each other" ilk. Certainly the door was open to me, but there's always that one person, the he-slut or she-slut that makes you think, "Wow, so that's how diseases get spread!" and made me not want to be involved. Mostly it is just one guy in my case, who is always fuck*ng everyone. Indeed, I have been friends with the most man-slutty of men in our theatre community for years, and it has occurred quite a few years ago that I had been in a room with him and around 11 other women friends where I was the only one who hadn't slept with him at some point. It is an icky feeling. I couldn't help but think of them as all being... soiled. Then I thought of the web of the man-slut, these women, their boyfriends, these boyfriend's previous girlfriends... It's one degree of separation between this guy's cock and most of the theatre artists in my age range.
I'll never forget the day where he and I were rehearsing a scene alone together in a room where he was packing a suitcase in the scene, and as he was folding clothes he had brought from home, and a condom flew out of a pocket and landed at my feet. It was one of the more extremely socially awkward moments when I pointed out the condom at my feet. To this day I'm still unclear as to weather he dropped it A) intentionally as part of the sexually charged scene, B) to make a really weird sort of pass at me, or C) accidentally because every pocket he has needs a condom in it. Looking back, it was probably more of a "D) all of the above" sort of thing.
Years later, when the fact of this guy's sluttery was undeniably established, a very intelligent friend of mine found herself to be the object of this guy's attention, which horrified both of us at the start. She told me he used the line "I want to rape you." We both laughed at this one really hard. Is that... is that a line that people use? I'm so confused as to how his awkward and stupid attempts work. I think it must be some mathematical equation of "girls' poor self esteem issues" + "incessant and awkward flattery" = "sex for man slut." After all, none of the girls ever raved about his skills, and he is only moderately attractive.... Anyway, my friend started having a moth to flame type attraction to him anyway, and I begged her, begged her to not let him get to her. I really didn't want to put her in the same category of the cum soaked masses. Touched by an angel? No. Touched by a man slut's sperm. To this day I still don't know if she gave in or not. I'm sure she'd be too humiliated to tell me if she did, and I truly don't want to know.

Can #2.
-
Wow... with his hat off, lyle looks... really cute.
-
Interesting fact: most high-school/college play man-sluts are really only doing all that womanizing to convince themselves that they aren't actually gay, which they totally totally are.
I was only in the drama club for two plays but that was my clear observation.
-

no, man, you don't even get it! I've been in love with her since before I knew her! I just didn't know it yet, man.

Wow... with his hat off, lyle looks... really cute.
Well... he is a stuffed tiger and all. Photographic evidence (http://www.achewood.com/about.php) suggests that he may be a bit less fierce than the strip suggests.
-
there's always that one person, the he-slut or she-slut that makes you think, "Wow, so that's how diseases get spread!"
There was a girl in my dorm who went through 3 guys before Thanksgiving break during her Freshman year. I was dragging my bag down the hallway as she and stud-of-the-moment engaged in a long, tonsil knocking goodbye. As I was tossing luggage into my roommate's car, she came trotting down the stairs to a waiting car, and spent a minute or so enthusiastically frenching with her boyfriend-from-back-home who was picking her up. As they drove off my roommate commented, "Damn, you can hear that AIDS chain clanking all the way to San Diego."
-
Where's Ben-San? If he made a claim like this, he'd provide the picture.
Sadly, all the Wonder Woman issues I've got on hand right now are from the 1980s relaunch, so you'll have to content yourself with a panel from All-Star Comics #13 (1942).

I wish people wouldn't bring up the VD-chain stories.
MAYBE I MIGHT BE A LINK IN ONE, OK? ONE THAT INVOLVES BOTH LADIES AND FELLOWS!
*sobs softly*
(actually, I'm 99% sure I do not have any VD. If we had a poll on the board of who is most likely to have VD... I would be way at the fuck*ng bottom. But there was this one girl, and I am pretty sure she either had, has, or will have VD in her life. sadly.)
-
High five!
Get tested regularly. There are places that will test you for free and aren't vans parked in alleys.

I'm sure I've mentioned repeatedly that I toured highschools with a Planned Parenthood show I co-wrote about sexual health, right? I was all "Hey kids! If you're sexually active get tested for STI's regularly!" and then I'd do the running man dance for 5 minutes while someone else beat boxed for me. Then I changed costume to play one of the Choice Triplets (a la Tweedle Dee and
Tweedle Dumb for the Alice in Contraceptive Land skit) I can't remember anymore if I was Abortion, Adoption or Parenthood in that skit...
Anyway, I got way off track. What I was going to say is that even if you have just a faint inkling that you might have an STI, there's no shame in getting tested. I always think that now, especially since the relationshop between genital warts (which I think is still the most common STI?) and cervical cancer has been directly linked, that it's really important to get tested and treated. A few warts don't seem like a big deal, but no one wants to dance around singing the "I Gave a Girl Cancer From my c*ck" song afterall. How does that song go again?
I gave a girl cervical cancer from my c*ck,
And only for a short, short trip to Venus!
I gave a girl cervical cancer from my c*ck,
And now the doctor's hackin' out her uterus!
Oh, my c*ck was so lumpy
That I called it "friendly toad!"
And then I stuck it into Gina's
Wide and broad abode!
(enter barber shop quartet)
Now I gave a girl cervical cancer from my c*ck (peeee-nis!)
Cause I didn't take one silly test (a silly test!)
I gave her cervical cancer from my c*ck,
And in a coffin she must now invest (must now invest!)
(Oh she must now in. She must now in. She must now inveeeeest!)
-
Gilbert and Sullivan would be proud.
-
good lord, that was moving. Believe you me, any fears I have are of the "what if she had a magical STI which could penetrate condoms!? Do they have those?" variety.
-
Oh man... smells' story reminds me that I'll never forget an acquaintance of mine who was dating the biggest trainwreck of a girl EVER. She was an evangelical christian who decided that she wanted to be a "Messianic Jew". Isn't that a little...redundant? "Jews For Jesus" are CHRISTIANS, not Jewish. Come on. She had a few more character flaws that were tragic, but I won't get into them here.
She apparently went to the doctor one day and was told that she had cervical cancer. This was before the HPV vaccine. She immediately milked it for all it was worth as the "I've Got Cancer" ploy. Well it was true, but she had cervical cancer from all the whoring she'd done. Brought on by what, you might ask? Let's just say that she had a similar reputation to Lyle's girlfriend.
YUCK. Nobody feels sympathy for that. Don't tell people you've got cervical cancer, unless you didn't get it from the human papilloma virus.
-
What, sluts deserve cancer?
Dude, we all have our weaknesses. Just because yours isn't teh coq doesn't give you the right to judge others!
-
man, she must just hate on some AIDS-having people.
-
Ah, it's refreshing to be reminded that, even in an age where women's sexual equality seems tantalizingly close, it's still acceptable to imply that women who have an "inappropriate" level of sexual activity deserve to die of cancer, and also that cancer due to a sexually-transmitted virus is incredibly shameful and demands no sympathy.
-
I get the impression that her gender had little to do with it. A dude with such a reputation would receive an equally harsh assessment of his worthiness of cancer (but that is impossible, as this is a gender-specific affliction -- but if there were an equivalent male counterpart, it would stand). And while I do agree that that may be a bit harsh, I do see her point: developing cancer just from the environment, chance, or whatnot seems a tragedy, but when it's brought on entirely by your own doing (such as a smoker brings on lung cancer), the tragedy is diminished a bit, or at least is easier to overlook. It's still sad, just not as sad, and sort of lends an extra bit of strength to the argument against being a moist slutcake.
-
Mmm. Moist slutcake. </Homer>
-
People, people! If Greek tragedy has taught us anything, it's that bringing about your own downfall is the most tragic of all.
But really though, I don't think anyone deserves to die from having too much sex, or too much food, or too much anything. The whole Divine punishment mentality is way too facile to me. Afterall, it's pretty hard to find someone who hasn't had a hedonistic period in their life at some point - it's the joy of living to go a little overboard. We're all guilty in the end, we all have that fatal flaw we can trace back to and blame when we end up dead, bloated and floating in a vat of cum, gravy or *****ussin.
Who's up for the Christmas dinner gorge? I know I am.
-
#####ussin.
I would just like to note that, if that was an unintentional screen, it is officially the funniest thing to ever come out of the censoring system -- and if it is not, Smells, you're a funny lady. (Er, not that you won't before.) This is all, because if I say anything more about HPV-caused cervical cancer marking you as a "slut" I think I may be Upset.
-

On the one hand, I can understand JfJs wanting to distinguish themselves from the other major Christian sects.
On the other hand, a Jew who believes Jesus was the Messiah is indeed more or less by definition a Christian. Plus I can't shake the feeling that the "real" reason they're "Jews for Jesus" is so that they can go to Jewish convocations, organizations, etc. and try to convert people. They do this and I believe that is just God damned low.
-

Except they aren't. They're Messianic Jews. There's a whole culture and history that makes all the difference. I don't know what that lady you knew was about, but Messianic Jew does not directly equate to Christian.
Edit on Refresh: Whoa... Ben... I haven't seen that before. That's kinda ugly behavior. The one JFJ that I knew didn't attend any organized meetings.
-
Damn, people read something that's slightly inflammatory and then they draw crazy assumptions from it.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that if you believe in Jesus, you're a Christian. Jewish people, by definition, do not believe that Jesus was the messiah. Evangelical Christians who convert to "Messianic Judaism" are insulting the Jewish faith. Dude, you're a Christian, thousands of Jewish people have been persecuted in the name of Jesus Christ, so lay off from your Convert-the-Jews tirade already. I don't care if Revelations states that a certain number of Jewish folks have to convert to Christianity in order for the Second Coming of Christ to happen. Wearing tfellin, going to "shul", or making "prayer shawls" ain't gonna make Jesus return any faster. My worldview allows for the faint possibility that there might be some Jewish folks out there who aren't offended by it...but in Denver there are large Jewish communities, from Reform all the way to Ultra-Orthodox, and all the people that I went to school with and were friends with who were Jewish were highly offended by "Messianic Judaism".
I am not saying that women who get cervical cancer are sluts who deserve to die. I said that I knew a girl who tried to milk the "Cancer Victim" for whatever she could. It was ironic because the more she told people that she had cervical cancer, the more I had to suppress myself from saying "Yeah, you're a cancer victim 'cuz you've got genital warts. Quit bragging, quit trying to get sympathy, and get on with your goddamned life."
She had one outpatient treatment to remove some tissue from her cervix, and then she was done. It's not like she was suffering for months like Lance Armstrong on chemo/radiation. It's pathetic for her to compare her cancer story to someone like Lance Armstrong.
It's like... dude, you've got an STD, don't try to get sympathy from it. Also, there is a vaccine for HPV/"Cervical Cancer" now. Hopefully it will eradicate the disease.
I never said or implied that women who are sexually active deserve to have an STD or die of cancer. I'm talking about one particular person of whom I have a particularly low opinion.

-
Oh, no no... I never said they were popular. They don't go to the big jew picnic and have little kosher sandwiches and smiles.
Just calling them Christians seems a little too simplistic considering the history that Jews/Christians/Messianic Jews are coming from.
Also, is it wrong that I'd want Hitler on my bowling team? I don't like the guy, but I hear tell, he can throw some rocks.
Does that make me a bad person?
-
I can understand wanting to clarify that they are different from contemporary Christians in that they may reflect the beliefs of the early Christians previous to hundreds of years of Church history piled on. I am sure there are some sincere types like that.
But I have never encountered JfJs in any context other than "trying to make Christianity palatable for Jews to convert to". They enrage me like few things do.
-
Well, yea... that's philosophical antisemitism, which is on the rise.
-
JfJ surely ain't Jews. They might like to belive they are, but no, they're not. There's a pretty damn wide range of beliefs available to your western Jew these days, from ultra-ultra-the-messiah-is-my-rebbe all the way through to them reconstrutonists with the what ever the hell they believe in. (Note: I think that both extremes are kinda freaky in their different ways, thats why I'm totally 100% happy sitting somewhere in the middle and not doing very much). Start to talk about the Jesus as anything other than, possibly, an occasional Talmudic figure, and you've crossed the tracks outside of Jewsville.
Also, I think its pretty established by now that HPV is the sole cause of cervical cancer, though that doesn't mean that if you've got HPV that you'll get cancer. Over 20 million people in the US are HPV carriers and, lets be honest, you only need to sleep with the one carrier, you don't have to be a slut to get it! So the moral of the story is, get regular paps if you're a girl and got HPV, and if your a guy, get checked up on a regular basis so you don't give HPV to a girl!
The End
