@achewood Is eaten food technically rotting inside you? It's pretty warm in there. Technically, we all not only live in, but *are* "the danger zone."

what a girl wants, what a girl needs, whatever makes *mumblemumble* happy!!!

this tylenol ful "day non drowsy" stuff isn't 1/2 bad.

before: i wanted to drill into my head to relieve the sinus pressure.

after: i _need_ to drill into my head because i have a song stuck in my head and it won't come out.

Dude, are you sure you aren't posting high?

Also: "whatever makes me happy sets you free." No need for thanks.

RKB = AOK

Get Down with Your Bad Self. I've suffered the past four (five? eleven?) days with a sinus infection that has played out a lot like a mid-level Punch-Out!! opponent - picked at me with jabs and prods and flurries, letting me think I could win for a while, and then WHAM oh shit did you need another quarter?

So yeah. If the drugs wanna wiggle, let 'em wiggle. I am happy to hear of any fellow sinus infection sufferer finding dat ol silber linin.

Also, I don't get "whatever makes me happy sets you free". Maybe I am a fuck*ng Martian, or too far removed from High School and those one-dimensional relationships that cared like burning, but the pronoun switch there just completely fuck*ng threw me for a loop. I've never even heard this song. I am imagining it sounds like a watered-down descendant of a song from Grease.

Speaking as someone who was in high school when the song was popular, it is genuinely creepy -- one of those songs that inadvertently (or advertently, hell if I know) puts back feminism twenty years by convincing teenage guys that, yes, women are domineering shrews who demand that a man serve them in a relationship.

Anyway, best of luck with your drugs of choice, narconauts.

I didn't think people really listened to the lyrics in those pop songs.  I kinda thought they were just syllables so the little girls would have something to sing.  It could have been Urdu or a shopping list or just gibberish.

My new pop song:

MY LOVE AIN'T FREE

My love ain't free
Cheez-whiz toothpaste elongated asphalt
You extended my lemur's warranty
Meteor fetlock chicken bone Charles Kurault
That Ronnie Milsap, he cannot see
Oh baby my love ain't free!

Once a snake finds your potted meat
Shel Silverstein wrote "The Giving Tree"
You'll never comprehend my window seat
Fourteen barbers are shaaaving me..
I said my love ain't free!

CHORUS
My love ain't free
My love ain't free
It costs something
Don't you see
My love ain't free

Granite plasma spreading oleo
Lando Calrissian was Billy D.
But Polly Holliday, she was Flo
The best tuna is Chicken of the Sea
Oh whoa baby My love ain't freeeee!

You can send my Grammy to the hizzouse.

My new pop song

That is singularly the finest song ever crafted.

I desperately need to hear it as is in my head.

When next year's song of the year on MTV features the chorus "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..." we'll all know who to blame.

You're going to be blaming him for writing everything off Mars Volta's next album then...

The one morning I sleep in, everything just goes completely rad all up in this thread, hey? Excellent work, sir. Today, I abdicate my Best Dude Grammy. Aside: was "Alice" actually a pretty good show or am I just remembering it as such because I was so young at the time?

You know, I'd never really thought of it in those terms before, but there's a good point to be made, there - today's teen pop pabulum isn't really much more than old-school rope-skipping and hand-clapping rhymes infused, jumbo syringe up ol' Thermometer Lane style, with so-called "content" (because Lord only knows today's "tweens" have all sorts of special thoughts and feelings that simply must be reflected in every facet of their entertainment) and liberal fistfuls of glitz.

Alice was about as good as sitcoms get, i.e. not so great.

But the spinoff "Flo" was so awful that it made children CRY.

Also, August, is that to be sung to the tune of any other pop song?  Some of it doesn't quite scan, so I'm just wondering if you fit it to a pre-existing melody.

Nah, I thought Cortjstr won this round.  In geek points anyways.  And I value those highly.
