Shrewd Molly

I wonder what Molly's referring to with the word "nonstarter." Is it the idea of getting out of the trailer, or is it BEEF?

You never see Molly's nasty side when she's with Beef, but you sure do see it on the blog and in her letter here. I know girls gotta release their steam sometimes, but maybe her 'real' self is too harsh for Beef to handle (or to handle Beef?).

I took this as his making a sarcastic little jab at the sort of people who arrange and participate in threesomes.
Yeah, I didn't really think that sounded like he was serious either.

Either that or Molly called the Three-way and there were two DUDES. That could be kind of disappointing, especially if you get schooled in the pleasuring of your lady.

Well, I think it's natural to be frustrated in relationships like this. I'm convinced that Molly really does care for Beef, but who wouldn't be frustrated by a guy like that? (Or a girl like that, depending. I really don't think it's very gender-sensitive, just relationship-type-sensitive.) Frustration happens, and it's probably better that she take it out there than in front of him.

Every relationship worth working at is frustrating at times.

You push the grey skies outta my way.
You make the sun shine brighter than Doris Day!
Turn a bright spark into a flame.
My beats-per-minute never been the same.

That is one of the finest damn songs of the past 20 years.

Fuck you people who make fun of Wham!  Fuck you all!  You can not make fun of a band with an exclamation mark in their name.  It is impossible.

on a related and silly note, I got my five-year old daughter stuck singing

No you're not hardcore!
Til you live hardcore!

And the legend of the rent
Was WAY HARDCOOOOOORE!

from School of Rock.

I fund it funny. The wife wanted to kill me with a cork puller.

There were Swedes to the left of him, Russians to the right
A Finn at the blue line lookin' for a fight
Brains over brawn -- well, that might work for you
But what's a Canadian farmboy to do?
HIT SOMEBODY!
What else can a farmboy from Canada do?
HIT SOMEBODY!

(Been in my head all day. Sadness.)

also, the wham! song 'credit card baby' may be the finest saccharine pop single of all time.

you can have my credit card baby
but keep your red hot fingers off-a my heart, lady
all you want is all you see
but what can i do when you say that you're in love with me?

that's right. fuck you, freezepop.

even though your singer is damn hot in that todd shirt.

The odd cut-off text on the right of the last panel is copied and pasted from one of those "Nigerian Banking Scam" spams.

Sorry, I'm not going to waltz down memory lane with you all by putting 80s lyrics here. Jesus, people.

Who said it necessarily had to be '80's lyrics? Now I'm just looking for an excuse to deploy "Copacabana."*

* "Copacabana" might actually be '80's, but I don't know and don't care.

soon i discovered that this rock thing was true
jerry lee lewis was the devil
and jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet
all of the sudden i found myself in love with the world
so there was only one thing left for me to do
was ding-a-ding-dang my dang-a-long-ling-long

jesus built my car
it's a love affair
namely, jesus, and my hot rod.
