Making money from art is not vulgar. Art is a commodity. It makes people feel something. It raises the greater sum of human happiness. It increases the gaiety of the nation. It has a value. -John Allison

Can't think of a better summer image.

I'll stick with bikini babes. Or wet t-shirt contests.

Current kid status, 6/24: She missed the "wiener national" dachshund races at the county fair, but caught a Martin Yan demo and a few brand-new black baby sheep with umbilical cords like pink bucatini.

That is the grossest description ever. The umbilical cords that I've seen are blue. I don't wanna think about it.

You get an IRS deduction for having a child, but it should be much larger when they're two. JESUS F. H. CHRIST ON A GINGER-CANE

I think he's talking about the 'Terrible Two's' here. You get an auto deduct for a second one.

[Edit] I'm kinda relieved I had to check my general impression of the toddlers age against the archives. Knowing I knew the specific age of 'Stad tot would bother me.[/edit]

Oh, dur. I read that today and noticed the kid status instead of toddler status and got excited.

We dropped some stuff off in San Francisco for an 'art show' of sorts, and she had her 83rd consecutive meal of french fries at 'Burger Joint' on Valencia.

Her language acquisition and mimicry are really coming on strong. This is our big chance to make her Irish.

this guy I heard interviewed on NPR talked about how at one point in the mid 60s his mom decided that she wanted them to start being Irish. it was pretty silly of a story.

A molar, a plan, a canal, Tylenol.

When exactly did it become kid status? I seem to have failed to notice that.

I heard her play the harmonica over a recorded phone message and damned if her one little ZWEEE didn't have me wondering what the front office at Juilliard smells like. Will the chairs be comfortable?

You always hope to help them find that thing, but in the back of your head you remember, nurture stuff with a light hand or you'll just crush the bejeebus fun outta it and scare them off.

Wait, that's not the parent's job? Jeez, my folks are going to be stunned by this news.

She would only eat French Laundry style at the taqueria: one bean wrapped in a Band-Aid sized strip of tortilla.

people come in and want that kind of shit at Moe's all the time.

They are always pretty pissed when I tell them I still have to charge them full price. I mean... a taco is a taco. Sorry that you asked me to take out everything that goes in it.
