Inev those are totally touching sentiments, but probably touching sentiments that should have stopped half a paragraph ago.

I have perfect vision as befits my super-human status but I have to say if I had contacts I wouldn't be stopping to take them out while i was getting fresh with hot ladies. Maybe it's different for you wombat, since you are a hot lady, but it just seems it would spoil the mood. When you're getting your romance on you don't want to be reminded of day to day things like contact fluid and such especially since (unless you guys are having much more exhausting sex than me) most people can handle a quick toddle to the bathroom for a glass of water or teeth cleaning or whatever your post-bone rituals may be.

Yes, a nice, stable relationship with someone who doesn't fuss if you need to remove your contacts is a fine thing.  Perhaps this is a lady's point of view - perhaps my age is showing if I recall being of the gender who was responsible for interrupting the festivities to go put a diaphragm in, and how a man who could deal with this without a fuss was a good thing to have.  I suppose These Kids Today have new forms of birth control that just involve mind control and so on.  We had to walk ten miles uphill both ways barefoot in the snow and chop our own wood before we could have sex in my day, I tell you.

Don't get me wrong, if someone chucks a sook because you need to remove your contacts or whatever they are probably a tool of the highest order but if the choice was on my end it's probably not something I'd want to interrupt my coitus with. Of course maybe contacts are akin to having sandpaper up against one's eye but if this is the case glasses seem like a better idea anyway.
Especially since with glasses you can take them off and shake your hair down and then you're pretty much guarunteed some right there with whoever else is in the room which is convenient becuase, hey, you've already got your glasses off.

I love the pierced glasses so hard. I love the idea of major body mods, but there aren't many that I'd like to get. I've been seriously considering the nipple piercing this year, though every time I think about making the appointment, I see the mastitis pictures on the BMezine encyclopedia, and have to lie down for awhile.

Intimacy and the problem of being too tired and drunk to function at night sometimes were two of the reasons I ditched contacts for glasses when I was a freshman in college. And just like Doc said, guys go wild for what my husband calls the "dishevelled librarian look".

Check through BMEzine.com a bit. Their blog is great, too. For every kid out there who spells out Blink-182 on their back in surface piercings, you get stuff like this, which is just HAWT.

Plus, endorphins are awesome. I loved getting tattooed. Even though I passed out for a minute and my tattoo guy had to give me his red bull.

ok, see, that looks basically like Frankenstein to me. That is the kind of thing that if I met someone, I would say "oh, wow" and try not to say anything rude.
There are some piercings which I can get into... but most are too wierd for me.

Man, I don't know. What does that even accomplish? Is it really just eight little piercings, in two rows, with a ribbon laced through shoelace-style? Am I missing something?

I want to like body-mods, but I guess I feel like they should be constructive in some way -- something that increases the overall value of your body to you, not just something that makes you look cool for prom. Tattoos should really mean something and represent a concept or image so dear to you, such a part of your identity, that the best way to reflect it was to make it a permanent part of your body. The pierced glasses say to me "this is a person who wants to integrate glasses into their physical self"; there's something qualitatively different there from regular glasses, contacts, or Lasik. (It's an idea I can respect. Honestly, glasses are an equally huge part of my self-identity, which is one of the reasons I'm sort of resistant to contacts and Lasik. That, and astigmatism.)

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I'm behind body-mods, but I'm not behind casual body-mods. The reason I have yet to get a tattoo is really just a combination of pain aversion and not having found anything that is such a part of me that it needs to be a part of my body forever. (Maybe a Purkinje cell tattoo, but oh man would that hurt.)

1.  The dress is cute, though.

2.  A high-five for astigmatism, and for glasses-as-part-of-one's-identity!  After my last pair of glasses -- which I had worn for about four years, and loved dearly -- broke in half over winter break, I got an eye exam in which it was determined I had mild astigmatism (also, that I have ridiculously poor vision for a nineteen-year-old).  My new pair of glasses corrected for the astigmatism.  It took me about two weeks to get used to (which made driving quite an adventure!), but when my eyes finally adjusted, I was amazed at how much clearer everything was.  Even the lighting looked different.  The world around me had texture, and was three-dimensional!  I am still astounded when I see the bricks on buildings and the leaves on trees, but I try to keep this to myself, as my friends give me weird looks when I marvel aloud.

3.  I am not into body mods, but if you got a tattoo of a Purkinje cell, you would be my personal hero.

if you got a tattoo of that, people would think it was some kind of wierd skin disease.

yeah, glasses make me look more interesting. if that makes any sense? my current frames are almost indistinguishable from my prior pair. so. you know.

GLASSES RULE.

Underneath the tattoo of the cell body, there could be a small line of text that reads, "This is a Purkinje cell."

That would probably cause more questions with the general populace than it would answer.

You may also need to include the entry from Webster's... JUST TO BE CERTAIN!

No, because it has that ironic, deadpan humour that the kids are so fond of these days.
