Good riddance, Joe Torre.
« on: October 10, 2006, 01:13:50 am »
Joe,

I defened you for years.  We are even alumni of the same high school; however, your performance in this division series was unacceptable.  Next year, it's me and Sweet Lou, and the team is going to have that spark that you used to have.

*salute*

Go [NY] Giants!  And to a lesser extent, Mets.

Yeah, pretty much all New York teams can cram it.

I reserve my ire for the Mets (who as previously mentioned are pond scum) and the Dog-ass Jets.

Fuck.  The.   Jets.

Leafers!

Basically my reaction, slink. I never got the whole "everybody hates NY teams" thing.

Personally, it doesn't have anything to do with their New York-ness.

I hate the Mets because I'm a St Louis Cardinal fan.  I hate the dogass Jets because I'm a Miami Dolphin fan.

Over here, it is unfair to hate the Jets, since they are so bad and will continue to be for so many years to come.  It's like scolding a retarded puppy.

I fuckin swear, Joe, if you play Giambi on first in another playoff game, I'm going to hunt you down.

So it looks like it's me and Sweet Lou in 2008.  In 2007, Giambi will blow Game 7 of the ALCS with a throwing error and the Texas Rangers go on the win the Series.  You heard it here.

Yea, the Yankees and Diamondbacks both did well with the "Fire Showalter" scheme.

All I can tell you is?

You cannot hate Joe Torre as much as I hate Cliff Floyd for allowing himself to be put on the NLCS roster. For the want of ONE more long reliever. ONE. Let alone the fact that if they hadn't kept him, they wouldn't have added Anderson "No-Hit" Herndandez and... maybe they'd'a had one more long man to get them through Game Two AND an explosive right-handed bat off the bench in Lastings Milledge.

But noooooooo, Grandpa Glass, you gotta go and be the goddamn hero and now it's one-and-one.

Cliff Floyd can go suck a big fat turd in hell. Seriously.

I mean, okay, I'll grant you...

Steve Traschel is just terrible, so I'm not saying that the Mets would've swept or anything?

But with the proper roster choices... i.e. admitting that Cliff Floyd should've retired at the end of the 2004 season and not putting the entirely useless Anderson Hernandez on as Floyd's designated pinch-runner as part of that situation by putting a second long-reliever (Williams or possibly Bannister) and Milledge as a legit pinch-hitter/late-innings defensive replacement for Green...

Then they win Game Two also and they're sitting up three-to-one and... maybe not even rushing Glavine out on short rest tomorrow, maybe they try to piece together a bullpen game.

Still, I'm telling you, the only reason the Cardinals are in this thing is just horrific roster management by Randolph and Omar. Old school "rewarding team players" and "giving veterans one last ride" bullcrap that's old school for a reason... because a long time ago, people realized it doesn't work.

That's why its old.
