It was equal parts disturbing and entertaining.

I am very upset that Air Guitar Nation isn't showing in the DC area, because I am friends with C-Diddy, one of the protagonists.  We were roommates in Albuquerque back in the day.

Wow, C-Diddy was pretty awesome, and came across as a genuinely nice guy.  Not like the horrible, sad desperation of Bjorn Turock.  I bet C-Diddy was a decent roommate - he was so diplomatic, even to the biggest losers he encountered.  Also, his parents were really cute.

Yeah, he's a great guy.  And I presume they explained in the movie that he originally entered the contest as a total goof.

I don't recall, but he was clearly just enjoying it in a relaxed, non-serious way.  At one point he points out how silly and bizarre it is, but how cool it will be if he wins, so that he can say he's the best in the world at something, no matter how odd that something is.

Wombat, you should see "The Queen."  I don't know why, but I thought of you while I was watching it.

I didn't think of you, but it was very good.

You know who I was impressed with (actually, I can't think of when I haven't been impressed with his work)?  James Cromwell.  The guy can do Prince Philip, he can do pig farmer, he can do corrupt cop.  He can even do Jack Bauer's Dad.  Is there anything he can't do?

Hmm, I find this vaguely unsettling.

Look on the bright side, it could have been Deliverance.

I don't think I associate Wombie with the Queen - just that I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the film and thought of people who are culturally retarded who probably are surprised by enjoying a great number of things more than I generally am, and then I thought of Wombat.

I don't think the above made my case any less unsettling, though.

That's okay Jough.  I was once walking home past the best damn Indian restaurant in the city, and I thought "I bet Jough would like that place." It was an odd thing to think, but it only struck me as such a block later.

Not by much...

Still it is always interesting to hear the sorts of strange impressions one has left on people - I was at a sort of high school reunion over the weekend and someone told me that she'd just hired a Latin tutor for her son who reminded her of me - because she is 'smart, witty, told them that the textbook stank, and rides a motorcycle everywhere.'

Let me be clear that I have never set foot on a motorcycle and that the last thing most people would call me is 'culturally retarded.'

Oh, and seriously - I know some of you think I am a technological idiot, but at the zoo, I am a genius. Yesterday my old boss (I still volunteer there) came into the room and said "You're the computer whiz, can you help me?"  And no one laughed.  And I figured out how he could hear the sound on his DVD by plugging the speakers into the headphone jack because apparently the IT guys had set his computer up wrong.

So there.

Wombles, I love you. I truly do.

Of course, I love all of you. But not all in an icky way.

Unless that's what you are looking for.

Nabu, you will always be special to me... even when you're inviting other ladies to move in with you and go around naked.
