Actually, it's more like "a hail of bullets are causing fantastical bloody injuries".

[CortJstr]

I saw some funny martial arts movies once. That one with soccer in the title? I think Cort recommended it.  But if 'chop-socky versions of Tarantino' means that karate chops are causing fantastical bloody injuries.... yes, better not.

Shaolin Soccer. Awesome, awesome movie. When the bad guys are called Team Evil you know it can't possibly be bad.

[Nabubrush]

Phucking A, I'd join that team.

ALSO: Don't bother with Health Inspector with Larry the Cable Guy.

That maybe cost me brain cells due to suiciding. They didn't want to process the thing anymore.

I think any film with any of those blue-collar comedy tour guys is probably going to fuck you.

[Doc]

Oh if you liked Shaolin Soccer go see Kung Fu Hustle, all cartoony violence and much fun had by all, you'll love it.

Wait a minute, what kind of lame martial artists need guns?

Wait a minute, what kind of lame martial artists need guns?

The kind who don't fuck around

[Nabubrush]

You know that part where all the attackers get in a line and attack the hero one by one, and he snaps off some smart spinning back kicks and they go flying? Well, you don't need as much willing suspension of disbelief when the bad guys are getting neat little holes punched in them.

Kung Fu Hustle--Brilliant.

I went to a showing of it at school in the first couple of weeks. I was not sure what "Sponsored by VSA" meant.
What it meant was that i was the only person there who wasn't Vietnamese. It was... interesting.

[wombat]

We saw Amelie. It was not at all what I expected.  It very badly needed to be fifteen minutes shorter, but it was good. Quite a cautionary tale about home-schooling your children although everything worked out all right in the end. The Technical Staff liked it.  He won't quite admit this but he says it was 'fairly diverting.'

One question: The gnome travelling around the world and sending pictures back. Wasn't there some gnome this happened to in real life, and was this borrowed from real life in the movie or vice versa?  There are so many people on the internet that take pictures like this now that I don't know how to do a search to figure it out.

[side_show]

It's a fairly common prank.  Here's a bit from wikipedia.

I've personally liberated a gnome and so has the SO.  Right now they live in our shed, but my dream is to set them out and allow them to be liberated again, compleating the cycle of life.

[wombat]

Wikipedia, of course. Why didn't I think of that? Maybe because I am getting over a migraine. Maybe because I am an old fart from another century. So the first recorded traveling gnome was in the 1980s which was long before this movie. I should have been able to figure this out too if I'd noticed that the movie is so recent.

Anyway, the descriptions of this movie are quite useless. A movie like this should have a big "Weirdness Advisory" sticker so that I know that I would like it, instead of just a description of the plot which makes it sound impossibly cute.

[smick]

The only gnomes I've received word from have been here, on TOUAMB.

[wombat]

OK, we just saw Eraserhead. Seriously, WTF.

Oh no you di'nt. That is stunning achievement in cinematic history. If you don't get it, it's only because you aren't cool enough.

Did you like the goat-baby?

[wombat]

Yeah, the baby was the only good part. I felt so sorry for it when it was sick.
