Kung Fu Hustle--Brilliant.

I went to a showing of it at school in the first couple of weeks. I was not sure what "Sponsored by VSA" meant.
What it meant was that i was the only person there who wasn't Vietnamese. It was... interesting.

We saw Amelie. It was not at all what I expected.  It very badly needed to be fifteen minutes shorter, but it was good. Quite a cautionary tale about home-schooling your children although everything worked out all right in the end. The Technical Staff liked it.  He won't quite admit this but he says it was 'fairly diverting.'

One question: The gnome travelling around the world and sending pictures back. Wasn't there some gnome this happened to in real life, and was this borrowed from real life in the movie or vice versa?  There are so many people on the internet that take pictures like this now that I don't know how to do a search to figure it out.

It's a fairly common prank.  Here's a bit from wikipedia.

I've personally liberated a gnome and so has the SO.  Right now they live in our shed, but my dream is to set them out and allow them to be liberated again, compleating the cycle of life.

Wikipedia, of course. Why didn't I think of that? Maybe because I am getting over a migraine. Maybe because I am an old fart from another century. So the first recorded traveling gnome was in the 1980s which was long before this movie. I should have been able to figure this out too if I'd noticed that the movie is so recent.

Anyway, the descriptions of this movie are quite useless. A movie like this should have a big "Weirdness Advisory" sticker so that I know that I would like it, instead of just a description of the plot which makes it sound impossibly cute.
