I saw that on a blog somewhere a while ago. It was directly after the game where Rivers came and sat down next to him and he got right up. Of course, it would be better if he was wearing the helmet w/visor and the heavy coat.*

*Bit ganked from KSK or Deadspin.

yea theyre definitely forgetting that ridiculous costume he wears on the bench.

LaDanian has light-sensitivity issues. That's why he wears the visor. It's also why he wears the big heavy coat, because light can seep in through his skin.

I'd like examples of other players who went from "that guy seems totally honorable and basically evidence of all that is right in sports" to "fuck that whining piece-of-shit bastard" in a matter of basically one season.

See, I see LT's good-person-ness and his hibernating while his team was losing as being connected. He's regarded as a Good Guy because he keeps to himself, doesn't get in trouble and just generally keeps his head on straight. When his team was losing, his reserved demeanor was refelcted in him just sitting there and keeping to himself. A guy like Jeremy Shockey would be going apeshit right then. Just hell of pumping up his teammates and getting them going. Then again, he also goes out and does stupid shit and says ridiculous things about the gays, etc. Who's the better person?

Edit: Uhh... I think I missed the point. You guys are complaining about him whining post-game instead of just freeznig himself in carbonite while his team was losing? Whatever. I don't know football.

Scott Rolen, at least in Philly.

Scott Rolen, at least in Philly.

And in St. Louis. And in two years, Toronto.

I figured there would be some in other sports that I didn't know about. Shaun A. is an interesting example, because I am definitely hearing fans give up on him, and people did like him before. That whole 'taking the money and not running' thing.

So, the Mariners -- my Mariners -- just traded for the best non-Johan pitcher in the AL, and I'm thoroughly depressed about it. Does that make sense? Erik Bedard is amazing, no doubt about it. But this team isn't that good. The 88 wins last year was a pretty big fluke, so trading away our number one prospect for a couple years of being the second best team in the worst division in the AL? And then watching him leave through free agency? Not my idea of a good trade.

If it really is the worst division in the NL, it shouldn't take that much to propel a team into contention.  If not for the division, at least for the wild card--more games against the likes of Oakland and Texas should improve the M's chances, as opposed to the Yankees and Red Sox having to beat up on each other so much.

But I thought I read this morning that the Orioles are denying there's been a trade.

The Orioles are denying it because that's what you do until you announce it. It will be announced soon.

But my point was the M's are nowhere near as good as the Angels even with Bedard. All the trade gets them is the ignoble honor of being the second best team in the AL's worst division. Now, if they were the second best team in the East of the Central, they might be in the race for the wild Card, because that winner is almost certainly coming out of either of those two divisions. But nope. They're in the West. They traded the future for two years of Not Quite Enough.

Oh Jesus, was he ever good to begin with, though? I had him on a fantasy team one year, and I don't believe he ever even turned in a solid week's worth of production.

Once Hearst retired, we sure hoped so.  He got a fat contract based on his backup work and was touted as the second coming of Rickey Watters - then sat on his ass for a season before getting traded to the Jets or something.  For dick.
