If we're lucky, A-Rod will stay in baseball long enough to top the record - even though by them he'll have made $1 billion. Hopefully having the record will be a compelling enough reason for him to keep coming back.

Though I hate A-Rod, that would be nice.

I remember when everyone was positive Griffey would break 755. I can't believe he's 38; it makes me feel old. At least he's aging naturally...I wonder if he'll get in the Hall. I hope so.

also, the "date" which wasn't a date is off, as her car is broken down and she is taking it to be fixed at the same time as the movie. So, change "what I'm doing today" to "what I'm doing sometime this week, granting that we both have work so maybe it will be difficult to arrange."

Dude, that's probably the Scientologists exacting revenge on you for talking shit. They're not a group to be publicly fucked with unless you're willing to go for it all.

oh my god, that is exactly true. She said that the guy at the garage was really weird and said something about Engrams when she called to schedule to bring the car in.

As an angry little atheist, I pretty much have to hate all scary cults that use the gamut of vile tactics on people who cross them.

Damn right, just because lots of people are crazy doesn't mean they should be allowed to get away with it.

Also they have 'science' right in the name and the public view of science is messed up enough without them making it worse. If I believe in anything it's science and I don't care for their blasphemy.

today I am shopping maybe, but I need someone to shop with. My problem is that my parents think I should wear baggy clothes (because I am kind of tall, and smaller ones are too short sometimes) and my friends think I should wear super-tight clothes. I think the best is somewhere in the middle, but, it's hard to tell.

Also I have been told that today is the day that I must clean out my dresser. My mom is basically treating me like...
I can't think of a simile. Basically she is acting like I am going to forget or ignore her. Her solution to this is to come in and remind me loudly about it every 20 minutes.

theinev, they still have this parent-mentality that you're still growing, and they want you to have clothes to grow into.

I continue to make this mistake. Wearing baggy clothes just looks sloppy. Get clothes that are stylish and that fit you.

Also, jay, tight clothes are fashionable for the adorably scrawny kids-these-days. Nothing is cuter than an emo boy with cigarette #####.

Guys wear these?

I guess that's part of the emo thing though. "I reject your arbitrary male/female roles, and choose to dress as my friends dictate".

The looser fitting clothing of a dude is a functional necessity. Women can wear clothes without pockets and skin tight ##### because they have purses. Men have wallets and keys that otherwise look ridiculous if in comparable styles. The answer to this is of course the man purse. I get away with the man purse because I'm in Manhattan and student age. Older men and suburban men just look silly carrying a messenger bag.

no, see, the problem is that when I buy tight clothes, they are too short. My parents prefer for me to hide my skinniness, I think. Also, they are obviously coming at teen fashion from a warped perspective-- my parents were into disco. Be serious. I don't go for the tight jeans, though. Well, I mean, I go for jeans which my parents consider tight, but my friends consider loose.

my main problem is that I only find clothes I like in weird situations. All of my favorite shirts have a story like "I was at a vintage clothing store, and they had "Cowboy Shirts," and they didn't have sizes on them-- they were all fitted-- and apparently some cowboy had almost the exact same proportions as me, so the shirt fits perfectly."

I kind of want to go to American Apparel, but that is a hell of a lot of money to pay for Red Undies.

The one time I got a shirt from there, it was a white t-shirt. The first time I washed it, there was some sort of chemical reaction with my deoderant, and now the armpits are that ugly bleach color. So, there goes 20 bucks. I really like the band t-shirts I have that are made by them, though-- so soft.

To be honest, the people whose fashion sense I most admire seem to mostly wear a combination of really expensive american apparel stuff, and torn old salvation army stuff. All of their ****** are cut off right below the knee for biking ability. I could not pull this look off. Also, lots of tattoos and piercings. tattoos of horrible shit like... I think a vomiting bear?

my desire to dress like these people is also curtailed by two things:
-there is something very crass about dressing like a broke bike-punk kid when your parents are paying ungodly amounts of money to send you to college. There is also something weird about the fact that although my parents often offer to pay for clothes, my favorite clothes are the things I buy myself for super-cheap.
-I dont like the idea that people looking at me would assume that I was basically scum. I like the fun part where they are in cool bands, not the part where they say "I tried Heroin today! It was ok I guess, I like coke better."

basically I am too much of a nice, nerdy guy. Which I guess is probably a good reason.
