my RA is...
he was once one of the top ranked DDR-ers in the world. Now this skill only goes towards Beating Everyone Ever at Guitar Hero. He and his friends made a short documentary about him beating this uppity freshman at Guitar Hero.

Some friends and I actually did a short mockdocumentary about Guitar Hero once...

Did I ever share it with you guys and ladies?

I'm not sure if you did. Is it on YouTube?

A World DDR Champ, eh? Damn. How did he get ranked at that? Did he travel to Japan to compete at a convention or something? That is crazy.

yes. he traveled all over the place. And, he was on TV shows back in the day, when he wanted to be an actor? Also, he dated/smooched like a shit-ton of ladies who are now making headlines who are around our age.
There is evidence of these things, people.

It just occurred to me that this is equivalent to "my friend on the internet used to live in Alaska!" or what have you. But seriously, people, this man is one BAMF.

... am I your Friend On The Internet Who Used To Live In Alaska, or do you have another one?

Anyway, on the subject of acquaintances with unusual properties, I know a dude on the current season of Beauty and the Geek. He's a jerk, though.

"Acquaintances with Unusual Properties" sounds like Mr Bear's attempt at titling she-male porn.

you used to live in Alaska?

...I meant Linnea. or Nabu. But, you know, I'd probably say Linnea, because otherwise the person might ask if anyone had ever photoshopped me to appear to be preparing for maximum cuddles with Nabu, and it'd be awkward to explain.

Oh, right. I often forget how many Alaska-dwelling folks we have here.

(I was born in Alaska and lived in Fairbanks until after seventh grade, when my father's midlife crisis took us to the Lower 48. It is a long story.)

I seem to remember you having some amusing stories about the batshit-insane kids from Barrow that you met at camp or something...

I walked out of my building and the first thing i saw was a speeding pick up truck do a screeching 360 degree turn in the middle of an intersection. the truck adjusted and then ramed a parked station wagon. The driver of the truck got out, cursed at the station wagon dude and punched him in the face, got back in his truck and sped away. Best part: The dude was wearing a kilt.
I saw all of this happen, looked around and then mumbled "No.... no way." And turned around to go back to my room.
It just seemed like a not good omen.

Today I got a flu shot and another 100 days' supply of thyroid medicine.

Tomorrow: Chicken!

Also, tomorrow I'm also going to have a kickass job interview (keep your fingers crossed for me, please), and do some volunteer work. Wednesday I'm going to have coffee with a very, very adorable man. We met for coffee on Saturday night. He is just...nine million kinds of awesome. We totally hit it off. After coffee, we went for a late night walk around downtown Denver, and as we were chatting, he said something that reminded me of Eddie Izzard's standup routine, and I started imitating bits of Eddie's routine. He grabbed my hand and said, "I can't believe you're for real! You like Eddie Izzard and you're smart and beautiful!" I felt like a million bucks.

wow. that is cute for real. Good luck on your job interview! we are rooting for you, Somebody nice!

today I slept for like 4 hours between finishing my paper and waking up to turn it in, then went to film class, then anthro (we looked at slides of cute monkeys, basically. Macaques are adorable!), and then I came back and fell asleep for like 3 more hours. Just now I was convinced into participating in possibly the Worst charity concept I have ever heard. I literally feel like I am a worse person for having "helped" than if I had said "that is a horrible, offensive idea. please reconsider."

the concept was "PB&J's for the Hungry." basically they have a bunch of peanut butter and jelly and bread, and you go and make a sandwich. I'm just imagining... being hungry, and having some rich-ass college student come up to me and say "hey! we made you a pb&j!" and handing me a shitty half-assed sandwich that some kid got railroaded into making... and eating it anyway.
I feel like this is the least dignified way to help someone I have ever heard. "This sandwich was made by a college student you will never know. We did not have gloves, or any way for them to wash their hands."
Also the concept that there is some "The Hungry" really bugs me. I asked how the whole thing worked, and they didn't really seem to have a plan. "well... we have... we have peanut butter and jelly. and... bread. you make a sandwich, and we... we get it to the people that need it. the hungry people."

"well... we have... we have peanut butter and jelly. and... bread. you make a sandwich, and we... we get it to the people that need it. the hungry people."

Basically I think this would really take off here. It is an unofficial tradition around here to use all of your unused meal plan meals at chik-fil-a or quiznos at the end of the semester (christmas time) and leave bags and bags of free chicken sammiches at the local homeless hangout.
Dudes gotta eat and I gotta justify my existence. win, win, win.
