I lost power for over three days a couple days before my senior capstone was due.  Still got a b, so that was cool.  Our school has generators too, so no excuses.  However, do you know how annoying it is to carry around over 25 books all day throughout a hell of crowded library and student union, walk home in darkness and then sleep in below freezing temperatures with no heat?  Really annoying, that is the answer.

... Lose power for most of the day - still out. It was a windy day, so naturally 100k people lose power. But to avoid any excuses for work due tomorrow, the good administration here at HSC has generators in the library.
Ive never seen stars so brilliant - or a dorm room so dark.

...wonder where everyone on the Internet has gone.

Seriously, none of the websites I read are updating, no one is posting here and hardly anyone on the other messageboards that I sometimes read... it's not a holiday or anything... has everyone on earth been invited to a party without me?

I don't know about you, but here iin SF it seems global warming is hitting us pretty hard. Maybe they're all outside soaking up the carbon-enhanced rays?

... recuperate from the first day of work, wherein I ran three errands, at least one completely bizarre ("go out and sell more of these raffle tickets!"), and was witnessed to. I am uncertain in some ways about my co-worker/supervisor (this is a small office), but hey, it's meaningful and it pays money...

It is hell of cold here, ain't no one soaking up rays today.

Today I had class. Then spent like some hours hanging out with a really fantastic lady. Then went to see a psych professor from Harvard give a talk, and I knew he is doing research that freaks me out with its awesome-ness, but when I got there the PowerPoint said "Constructive Memory and Episodic Future Thinking" and I flipped a shit. He basically gave an hour-long talk where he went into depth on a bunch of things I wrote a paper about last semester. He didn't mention the one paper I read that made me really really freak out, but I couldn't figure out how to lead into it with a question, and didn't want to be all "um um Dr Schacter um, I really found the paper you did with Dr Buckner on self-projection and the hippocampus fascinating, could you just talk about that for 20 minutes please."

Soon, a meeting with 3 guys who I want to live with next year. one of them has been saying he wants to transfer, but I have no idea if he is actually pursuing it. If he is, our living situation is way more complicated. Either way, 2 of the guys are going abroad second semester, which makes things complicated.

After that... doing a ton of reading for Cognitive Science to try to catch up before writing a paper due thursday, studying statistics a ton for a test we have on wednesday which I am not prepared for, possibly doing some studying for an anthro exam which is also wednesday, reading 2 short stories written by my classmates in order to critique them tomorrow.

Also, dropping by a certain lady's room to give her a CD she's reviewing for the radio station.
Um, there is no part in my job description which says "personally deliver CDs to people's dorm rooms," but I am just so passionate about getting this CD reviewed that I can't just leave it for her to pick up.

No soaking up rays here either - maybe some soaking in the freezing rain and sleet tomorrow.

Global warming is definitely not in evidence around here. Snowfall this year is above average, and in some cases, the most that some areas (Coeur D'Alene) have received since 1915. A small town about 50 miles to the east of where I live got 108 inches of snow...in one month. They are only 300 feet higher than us, but they always get way more snow.

Not much going on personally. I finally got my health insurance situation fixed, and will be going to the doctor on Thursday to get my shoulder and knee looked at. His diagnosis will determine what I do for my summer vacation. If I'm good, then chances are I will be going to OCS. If not, then I will be working for the Forest Service again this summer. The thing with OCS is that it's very strenuous, and I need to be at 100% going in, because it puts a lot of abuse and strain on your body.

I'm watching it snow like a mother-fucker here.  We're sposta get anywhere from 3 to 8 inches.  There could also be sleet and freezing rain.

... pack for my trip to Oklahoma City. It will take me about 11 hours to get there. After an overnight stay, I'll be teaching a class for about five hours, then flying from Oklahoma City to Phoenix, waiting seven hours, and getting on a red-eye back to Charlotte. Woo.

Yeah, I spoke to soon. It was feeling like summer earlier today, but now it's cool, foggy and windy.

We're having great summer weather here at the moment where it's been raining practically every day but it's still quite warm, this can be muggy during the day but at night if you're wandering around and it's still around 20-25C and there's just a light shower to take the edge off without making it chilly, it's basically why I love living here.
The only down side is that I'm still nervy about riding my shiny new bike in the rain with cars around so it hasn't been getting as much use as it deserves.

oh my god, if our plan of how we are going to live together pans out, my friends and I will have possibly the coolest 2 apartments at WashU. We are going to try to get 2 2-person apartments next door to each other, as there are not any 4 person apartments in the buildings near campus.
Also at that meeting, we all realized that all of us had the same secret thought-- all of the people with cool apartments, who throw bomb-ass parties, are graduating this year. Next year we can fill that void. We can be those guys. We will have (an) awesome apartment(s), all of us are friends with awesome people.
