That is awesome, Inev.  It sounds very much like how I became a History major instead of getting a degree in English, but I think it's a good path.  It shows that you chose your major according to what you want to do now, not what you think you might want to do in ten years.  And ultimately, whatever you end up doing is going to be more fulfilling because you obviously know how to (a) figure out what will make you happy and (b) go after it.

In short: yay, anthro!

I had basically made this decision a few months ago, and then I had this conversation with my parents where they basically said that they think I am taking the "easy way out."
So I decided to think about it more, but I am realizing that... the reason it seems like it will be easier is that it will be classes that I like.

Parents should know this.

I chose my major by taking one of each X-101 class and going with the one that was most interesting.  It helped make college awesome, and ultimately it now applies to my career, which didn't exist in its current form at the time.

Now, I will go shower and go to this job, because it is an awesome job.  I will probably be late but no one really cares.

The issue is that they have the impression that really I want to do the other major (basically philosophy/psychology/linguistics) but I am changing because it is too hard.

This is because for some reason I could not make the words "I want to be an anthropologist" come out of my mouth. It just sounds like... it sounds like saying "I want to be an astronaut."

Soon: inviting a girl out for Vietnamese food.

WHY do people annotate books using ACTUAL PUNCTUATION? Have they NO IDEA how hard it is not to read it as though those parentheses are MEANT TO BE THERE?

ARGH.

Oh man did I think this was funny.

PUNCTUATION

What, did they format a book in MLA or something? R(uta) B(agas)?

I feel like my eMusic-fu is way off lately.

Dr. Dog - Fate. What was I thinking?
Ingrid Michaelson - Be OK. Well the title track is nice. And Be OK (acoustic). But other than that, not a fan.
All Girl Summer Fun Band - Looking Into It. They get a pass for the awesome name.

I thought the year-end lists would help, but no. I hope next month is nothing but wall-to-wall awesome.

I like their other album. Mostly the song Car Trouble, which is... great.

I am super pumped right now. I feel like I am rocking my classes so far (only 3 days so far but... taking really detailed and organized notes, doing all the reading, etc).
I just got out of a Primate Biology class which made me incredibly excited. I forgot how much I liked biology in high school. Also, what it feels like to be in a class where I am so into it that I am not embarrassed to ask lots of questions.

Also friday I have a dinner date with a girl who... when I met her freshman year, I could not say Hi to her without stuttering or dropping something. We'll see how I screw this up. Probably by being afraid to screw it up.

BONUS ROUND: today I ordered a beer at a bar, and was not carded.

I feel like my eMusic-fu is way off lately.

Some good recent scores there:  Passion Pit's "Chunk of Change," the new Okkervil River, damn well near the Avett Brothers' whole catalog.  And some mediocre, hit-or-miss items like the Stills' new album, Maximo Park, Styrofoam and Land of Talk.  I'm also picking up everything in this Classical for Beginners article, one per month.

Now that you mention it, today's the day my downloads refresh, so I'm gonna get The Gaslight Anthem's "The '59 Sound," and the new Herbaliser joint.

Further proof that we are 180-degrees out of sync. Okkervil River, Avett Brothers, and Gaslight Anthem are all bands that were recent free daily downloads. For all 3 I listened to the free song, checked out the 30-second samples, and decided pretty much right away that they were not for me.

Gramercy Arms is today's free track. The short review sounds promising. I'll find out when I get home, I guess. I'm so glad I found out that you can get those without installing the toolbar.

The newest Stills I do have in my Saved lists*. I didn't know about the new Maximo Park. I have one of their other albums so maybe I'll look into it.

I did get finally get around to DL'ing Thao, and that was pretty OK. I have so much stuff gathering dust in my saved lists. I wish I had been able to snag some of those super cheap booster cards that Circuit City was selling a few months ago, but I never saw any.

*My actual Saved for Later has been broken for like 3 years and eM tech support is stumped. But I've found that it actually works much better to save stuff to lists based on how many tracks it has. That way when I only have 8 songs left I can easily find albums that have <=8 tracks I want.
