I just laughed at that nice turn of phrase. Here's hoping that there's no mops at the end of the technicolour rainbows today for Jaydub.

I spent some time sealing the foundation and walls of the house with hella pesticides to cut down on the army of bugs and critters marching about the domicile. Problem: you may seal them out but you also seal them in. Apparently I cut off the outside food source for a pair of ant nests that have set up in our walls. I already got one of them, today I am hoping one of the SuperAntHighway dining off the liquid-borax mix I left them reaches the queen and gives her the dainty, fatal sip.

The little bastards. Hairspray and a Zippo is ineffective but ever so much more fun.

I am certain I've told the story here before about my paternal grandfather battling the ants with a can of red pop and a hammer. It sounds like a dumb Pollock joke, and it may as well be one.

I recommend Terro. The ants love it, it brings the scouts to the yard, and they take the sticky sweet stuff back to their queen and poison themselves with their own industrious gluttony. There's a wonderful sense of Marxist slacker justice to it. Plus, it's just incredibly easy to use -- pour it out, leave it alone.

Terro: Better than sitting in the kitchen all night with a hammer.

Great minds think alike, Terro would be the brand name of what I'm using.

And yes, the little boogers really do seem to have a hanker for it.

I would have probably guessed that if I'd actually, you know, read your post instead of scanning it.

... plant my vegetable garden then go to Costco.  I'm apparently getting a Costco membership today, which is oddly exciting.  There's something about mass quantities that is equal parts disgusting and magical.

...take my kids camping in the backyard. I hope they enjoyed it, because it will probably never happen again.

That's not true. I apparently have short-term memory loss, because I keep signing myself up for fool projects like this despite what happened *last time.*

Long story short, the kids were up 'til midnight, we got rained on at 1, and Pedro gave it up and went inside at 3, the wimp.

I had a really nice evening last night. I had drinks with some current, former, soon-to-be former and non-coworker friends, one of whom quit this week because he finally passed the fuck*ng bar exam like THREE YEARS after he got his law degree. Some of us then went to another (and personal favorite) bar for some more drinks and appetizers, including a special that they only have every so often, and then four of us ended up at a true dive bar for a tallboy PBR which I managed to choke down (I don't hate PBR and I don't like it, it was because of my acid reflux and all the drinking I had done earlier), and then three of us went to the only good non-Mexican food 24 hour restaurant in Salt Lake that I know of. I got to reconnect with a couple friends, which is nice, because another coworker who happens to be one of my closest friends in the state of Utah is moving to Vermont in a couple weeks. I'll need to replace her somehow. And my sister just moved back to Seattle.

Today I hope to attend a showing at a small gallery downtown for another friend who is moving east. I haven't seen him in a while and maybe I'll finally buy something from him.

had breakfast for dinner at a weird pancake place that seemed to be only staffed by and dined at by old people. snuck into a "senior sendoff" thing on campus that you were supposed to pay a week ago to get into with two friends who are juniors and got free beer. smoked and listened to cool music with a bunch of guys until 4 AM, eating junk food and shooting the shit. COLLEGE.

now I'm up at 10, which 4 years of college has conditioned me to think is Waking Up Early, and I'm going to have a productive day. Haircut, moving shit to my new apartment, calling our landlady about our broken toilet. (the one in A--Cap's sig... when I mentioned it to her she got all worried and said that if it's rocking around it might break/loosen the shit-pipe, whatever that's actually called.) also, after an entire year of being slammed shut by my roommate, the seat has come completely off.

I'm usually pretty enamoured with pugs, but I'm getting pretty tired of this terrible black pug puppy in my neighbourhood.  It's got these gross weepy eyes, and its face is so weird - I think it's one of those pure-breds that overly inbred to the point of retardation.  It's eyes are goo-ey and it's just ugly, not ugly cute.  Whenever I walk my dog the pug clearly wants to murder my dog.  I mean this creepy thing is full of rage and the only thing keeping the pug away is it's inability to jump the tiny 2ft fence that keeps him in his front yard.  What is up with him?  Why the pug rage?

Pugs have a pretty rough lot even with non-inbred levels of pugness.

I'm sure he has unresolved anger towards his breeder.

If I had a face like that, I'd be angry a lot of times, too.
