Man, that really blows dude.  I take ibuprofen for pain.  I like that better than aleve.

Whatever drug it is in Aleve is an anti-inflammatory.  I take Advil for pain, etc., which is ibuprofen, which is also an anti-inflammatory according to wiki, so... yeah, I could have just stuck with the advil I already had.  fuck.

In good news- I got a muscle relaxer from a friend that seems to be working well (just took it recently), and I am working on getting some of those other pills.  I also don't have to go to work tomorrow, but I may if I want to.

I treat doctors the way I treat any other provider of goods or services that I pay for - I give them the third degree and seriously balk if they are doing things I don't understand or don't agree with. I didn't use to, but I've sort of just had enough. You went to school for a long time to become a doctor? Don't care, cuts no ice with me. Prove you deserve my business. Actually, I just changed doctors because my old one wasn't performing to my standards.

I can't find any particular reason that Aleve should be superior to Ibuprofen or any other NSAID for back pain, so I'd just go with the Ibuprofen if I were you. The important thing with back pain is to take enough pain killers that you can keep mobilising, people used to just lie in bed for days or weeks and what would happen is their supportive muscles would atrophy and cause more problems. So I'd take a couple of days if I needed it but after that I'd just start throwing enough NSAIDs at it that I could get moving again, I wouldn't use the muscle relaxants for more than a couple of days for that same reason.

Sorry to hear that guy sucked, sure as hell ain't my scene.

What did you do anyway? You've got to be too young for random crippling back pain? (because I think we're around the same age and I sure as hell don't want it).

When I was 19 I worked at a McDonald's on the closing shift.  That meant that after we were done serving customers for the day we got to clean up, which paid about 20% more than regular shift workers.  One of my jobs was breaking down the shake machine.  Ordinarily I have pretty good lifting technique (even as a callow yout'), but the shake mix reservoir was the poster child for awkward burdens (being about 30"x36" and 24" deep), and on one particular night was much more full than I was expecting.  I slid it out of the machine and it dropped about 2" to the floor while I was attempting to lift it to carry it over to the sink.  Something in my low back gave and I spent the next week immobile, and the following 6 weeks really, really tender.  Alls I got was ibuprofen as well, and a note from the doc to my boss that I wasn't to do anything that required lifting or reaching.

About 18mos later I bent down to pick up a pencil (!) and reinjured my back.  As I was at school at the time there was nothing to do but suck it up and creak around from class to class feeling like I was 40.  Actually, I'm just over 40 now and I feel better than I did then.  I had read enough about back pain treatment at the time to stay as active as I could while recovering, and to avoid the temptation to spend all day in bed or whatnot.   Needless to say I have spent the intervening years learning and practicing good posture and lifting technique and strengthening the supportive muscles of my low back.  I've tweaked it occasionally, but nothing like those first two episodes.

I tore my rib cartilage wrestling with the ex, way back when. I re-tore it reaching into the back seat of my truck for something, years later. I tear it every so often, now. Just another reason I don't like her much.

Both times I was pregnant, I tore the muscle right under my sternum just by being hugely pregnant with large babies and walking around like that for an extended period. This last bout with bronchitis has caused me to re-injure it by coughing.

I thought bodily injury was for people who did things.

...wonder why I can't post in the college football thread.  If I could post there I would way my boys down at OU are about to blow up the whole thing as badly as they blew up Tulsa.  I would also remark that I spent most of my childhood routing for OSU and, to a lesser extent Tulsa, but I went to OU, so go get em Stoops.

Also, I would caution miles that this could have been his last year of hope and now it's over.

I must have locked it. Posting on my phone and all. I had no idea until just now you could lock/unlock your own threads.

It's unlocked. Now go be a dick Keith.

Anybody who has one of those window flags is gonna be a jackass. Regardless of who he's representing. But I'm not the last to admit that a lot of Oregon fans are routinely cocks to strangers.

More importantly, you have enough confrontations daily to be able to pick a favorite? Are there highlight reels? This could be a thing.

I feel ya and you're a better man than I. Just today some dickhead cut me off on the freeway. He changed into my lane right in front of me and I had to break. Kind of a dick move, right? But we've all done it, so I wasn't going to get angry. I'm a conscientious driver, but when I have fucked up I'm quick with a contrite wave and a "oops I fucked up" look on my face and mouthed sorry if the other driver can see me. After this guy cut me off, I reflexively kind of threw up my hands quickly in frustration and was ready to just get on with my day when the fucker gives me the finger! That's when lizard brain kicks in. I hit him back with a fuck you and follow, not closely, not always in the same lane, him to his exit and hit him with another fuck you. Now I just feel like an idiot. Hopefully he didn't get my plate and try to make a thing of it.
