@achewood There’s no Day for apologizing to our parents for all the stupid shit we put them through. Perhaps because we never finish before they die.

It is a big world with plenty of room for different kinds of parties. It is good that the cardigan-wearing find each other, and that the raucous photoshoppers find each other too.

It's not Chianti, though, jeez.

Yeah, 'cause when we drink Chianti we are not afraid of the polizia.

...Maybe a visit to the walk-in humidor for some of the second from the top shelf cigars, just for courtesy, 'course.

wow.  those are way nicer than the assetbar cigars(some "re-engineered" swisher sweets that still have a hint of grape flavor).

I do, in fact, own a couple of cardigans.  I am not wearing one now, however.

See, I don't get this. What's with the open hostility toward assetbar over here? I've spent a great amount of time there and I've lurked here semi-regularly. I've seen what both have to offer and I just can't get my mind around the prevalent air of superiority around here.

Listen. This is what's up: Assetbar is a party. A loud one. A sweaty one. With dancing. Yes, there are a few overly drunken, disagreeable sorts in the corners. Maybe a prostitute smoking crack in the upstairs bathroom. Maybe some goth bitch who won't put out her damn disgusting clove. But it's still a party. It's full of interesting people having a good time. Sometimes they may get a little carried away, but it's all in the spirit of celebration. It's a raucous good time.

OK, now I'm leaving the party which is assetbar and entering the adjoining room which is TOUAMB. It's quiet. It smells nice. There are a couple of dudes in cardigans sitting around a fireplace drinking Chianti from fine crystal goblets. They speak in even tones. They never interrupt one another. They nod politely and give a good-natured chuckle. No one's yelling. There are no fist fights. No wild-eyed revelers. In fact, there's....not much....of anything.

I get fidgety. This room is relaxing and calm, but before long I'm just sitting there wondering what's happening over at that crazy party I just left.

See what I'm saying? Safer and quieter doesn't mean better. Yes, assetbar has its problems, but it's an interesting place to be. For every one braindead troll there are ten not just funny, but seriously creatively gifted posters. Have you seen some of the photoshop work that's come out of that place? From what I've seen of this place it seems like the main topic of discussion is how this place is better than assetbar. Seriously, guys - I've skipped around a lot and I see this come up all the time.

I just don't get it. I like that this place exists and all, but why you gotta play it that way?

This place is better than assetbar because I am not on assetbar.

Once Linnea finishes shaving she will need a little mini-cardigan to keep it from getting cold.

dejavroom: Thanks. Good to be here.

AugustWest: It doesn't bother me that you guys have your nice, little place and that you're happy with it. I think it's cool as shit. I kinda like it here. It's just this competitive vibe I get from a lot of the comments I've read that kind of gets my goat. The seemingly fairly regular need to assert that assetbar is inferior to this place. This whole "assbar" business. I guess I get kind of offended. I mean, we don't sit around and go on about how much better we are than you, ya know?

wombat: This is a good way to look at it. And what is that, courvoisier?

Asherdan: Hey, man - I am partyin'. Look at me. Look at me partying. And man, I know you have a....unique relationship with the 'bar. You've been kind of kicked around over there (whether or not it was justified I can't remember), so I'll never balk if I hear you bad-mouthin' the place. Anyway, I think I'm through bitching about people bitching about people. Just had to say my piece. Got a lot of friends over there. Gotta represent.

Rowboat if this were a party I would want to be at the one with the drunks fuck*ng shit up and bitches dancing topless on the tables.  But this is not a party it's a messageboard, I come here for conversation.

I have very limited experience with Assetbar, from back in it's early days and it seemed pretty bad to me.  Nothing intelligent was said that I noticed.  Perhaps it evolved over time into a place where some intelligent conversation can take place, but with a bunch of dickholes like Mr. Wonderful hanging around too.

As for the assbar thing.  I started that.  It stems from the fact that the first time I visited there I misread the name.  I sincerely thought the name was assbar.  But yeah I think assetbar is inferior to TOUAMB.  Sorry about that.
