@achewood I am composing a tone poem about eagles, lawnmowers, and Ted Nugent. It is composed only of the sounds of those things.

Look.

Specifically this quote, scroll on down, come on, that's-a way:

There's a screenplay in the works, as well as a video game and several new books. We're also working on a compilation of Achewood-themed music by several established composers

SEARCH THE UNDERGROUND FOR SEVEN DEPRESSION TOKENS AND CLEAR THE LEVEL!!!! OMG LOLLL!!11

Um, no. I am impressed and indebted as all hell to Onstad for creating Achewood; I love the strip and I wish him all the success that won't smother his muse. Selgiraffe? you bet your ass.

But I already know what the Achewood players sound like and how they move and what they do. Marketers aren't horrible, easily identified living dead these days - they have spawned right out of our generation. They will turn Roast Beef into Daria's x-tra sekrit boyfriend. I guaran-fuck*ng-tee Ray's compassionate hedonism will turn into some sort of Spirit of Christmas analogue.

This mass media is just too goddamned weird.

EDIT: MY GOODWILL TOKENS NO LONGER REDEEMABLE, YES

I've regularly posted references to James Kochalka here and on the old dumbrella board to no response from anyone, so I'm glad to see someone reads that strip!! I discovered Kocahlka thru his printed comics, but read his site daily, and again encourge everyone to check it out - the recent ones aren't some of the strongest, but you can also buy a subscription to the archieves or order printed versions of the books at comic shops or online.

As for a video game, I say humbug - I'll believe it when I see it.  And as for a movie?  I'm scared.  There have been too many films that piss on their origins.  I worry.

The Mass Media didn't ruin Ghost World.  Maybe Terry Zwigoff is free to do Achewood the movie.

Frown officially turned upside-down. That has the potential to rule.

I seriously was picturing all shiny 3-D rendered Roast Beefs toting laser cannons trotting around yet another Lava Factory Level in yet another Stupid Mascot-Driven Platformer on yet another Next Generation Console that costs more than a fuck*ng moped - oh and I only just realized that they'd probably dig up washed-up celebs now farming themselves out as Voice Talent (I'm thinking fat guy from Head of the Class level here)

PAUSE

So, uh, know anything else?

Nice of Onstad to mention in that interview that there's another message board where die-hard fans discuss his strip.

I would definitely play Zorkwood. Or Acheband.

But, well, if things go bad, you heard it here first: TOTAL SELLOUT OMG OMG OMG

(Will the Achewood text adventure feature Hiram the Blacksmith?)

I think it ought to be a graphic adventure game like King's Quest.  Probably more like Leisure Suit Larry, though.

The movie should be directed by Neil Cicierega.

Don't we already know the computer game Chris was born to work on?
