@achewood I once had the idea that, if only for a moment each night, everyone in the world was asleep at the same time. It made the world manageable.

Clearly he's building scaffolding so he can reach that last row of tiles at the top.

IIRC correctly, Lileks was of the opinion that if you didn't support the Iraq War and waterboarding then you were in favor of the terrists taking over Merica.

So how long does fuck*ng season last for those dudes? Are you just gonna have to pencil in an annual month of horny parrot times shenanigans?

For the quaker: breeding season seems to vary by climate, and location. Generally, Mid-Fall to Early-Spring. Breeding season lasts about 6-10 weeks.

For the macaw: first half of the year but especially summer.

Jesus-fuck, get that thing a Real_Parrot_Doll or some-such.

Too much masturbation causes egg laying which leads to calcium deficiency. Last year Scooter (the Macaw) lay 23 eggs. This is atypical.

Cloacal prolapse is extremely deadly even if caught and treated immediately.

Conversely, interrupting egg formation is also bad, and causes sepsis. Parrots aren't like chickens, which are extremely distantly related and who suffer temporary but recoverable strokes from the sudden influx of cholesterol from resorbed eggs.

I'm disturbed that none of the people I've interviewed about parrots ever mentioned that they are such perverts. What else are my sources hiding?

My parakeet engaged in epic bouts of self-love.  All staring into the mirror - no doubt thinking, "You're a dirty, dirty girl" and leering.  Never laid any eggs though.
