My being on tilt is a hella bad thing. I seem to be experiencing holiday malaise/melancholia at the news of Scrambles's passing/an anurism. You will note that I have posted more in 20 minutes than... well... ever.

And the Chinaman is not the issue, Dude.

Man, I'm going to get a beating when Mrs. Dunston checks in.

On Tilt, or full tilt can also mean taken to the extreme, as in as far as you can go before you totally tump over.  It's old school dope slang.  In the case of an ice machine on tilt I would take it to mean one that is hella making ice as fast as it can.

I don't think that that's what it means, cuz it just wouldn't make sense in the context of things.  Unless Ray used so much ice that the brain in the ice machine needs to make more speedy fast.  Doubtful though says I.

i took 'tilt' in the pinball sense, picturing an impatient ray banging on the machine when it stopped giving him ice for a while though his bucket was only HALF FULL.  the ice machine senses that it's being banged upon (via mercury switch, plumb bomb, or other such device), and starts beeping and flashing 'TILT' at ray.  this of course that the machine will refuse to even so much as make the "i'm trying to find some ice for you" noise when ray pushes the button.

to me, that mental picture was the funniest part of the strip

Strangly this never crossed my mind. but no one really looks all that hot, so I guess that's why.  This sort of hell is a lot more like what I might picture a sort of purgatory to be.

She's letting me tell it.  While I think Pedro is a fun moniker for a blindingly white-skinned person, I was actually born with the equally unlikely name Adrian.

Just before saying I hadn't been born in 1978 either but I've heard of Rocky Balboa, I remebered hearing on NPR the night before that Sylvester Stallone's last two movies had gone straight to video, and that he was pretty much washed up for all time.  I can't understand it.   I mean.  Who could forget Rocky III with Mr. T?  The man could do no wrong.  (Except maybe Rocky V, but that's not the point.)

I've since given up.  Wife, job, mortgage.  I haven't been alive a quarter century, but I'm already old.

I ended up telling the administrators that I had caught the girl cheating on her SAT.
