I'm looking at my class schedule, and it's like they calibrated it to only offer classes during meal times. Everything is either 11-2pm, or 6-9pm. What gives?? This is a recipe for inev only eating granola bars or late-night cheeseburgers.

You need to learn to make exquisite little bento to carry to class with you. Or you could even make them look like anime characters.  That would be so much work that you'd never make the mistake of cooking more than you needed for one person.

Wait, there was a holiday weekend?

First day of classes today. Only had one class, it seems great. Lots of really cute girls in the program. Who, logically, are probably also smart and into the stuff I'm into. At least the urban planning part.

Are there enough jobs in your field that two people can expect to move to a city and both get jobs?

I understand that I am jumping the gun a bit.... and it might not matter in a field where I presume people are going to be looking for actual jobs instead of growing up to be professors. But for academics it's a big problem. They don't get out enough to date outside their grad program and then they end up married to people who live half a continent away.

The answer is: yes if you want to be in a major east-coast metro area, probably no if you want to be anywhere else. Almost everyone from my program who graduates gets a job in Philly, New York City, or New Jersey.

Today I went to the weekly social at a local bar and got drunk and talked to people and forgot all their names. One particular girl I met made me feel weird feelings.

One day I'll look back at all the times I met someone and had a "weird premonition" about them that was wrong and learn. But. It hasn't really sunk in yet.

I think the gruff northeast thing is majorly growing on me. So free to zone out in public situations.

Rearranged some classes and now I have a 4-day weekend every week. Unfortunately I should probably get a job to fill that time so that next semester I can take out smaller loans.

Tonight is my first Finance class. Crossing fingers.

Yeah, there is no danger of me doing that. Well, maybe if the job were something really cool. I just sent in an application to work in the housing office in a nearby town.

Real Estate Finance is totally awesome. Being taught by an NYC real estate guy who has all kinds of great stories. He opened by talking about how sometimes it's about seeing what other people don't see. One example is that about 10 years ago he toured a building that had, for some reason, giant basements. It was in an awesome location, but this giant underground area seemed like a liability, or at least like something that wouldn't produce any money. A few years later they built escalators and rented the basement out to Apple Computers for their (flagship?) most iconic Apple store. But today we mostly talked about types of real estate and what issues arise with them. No math yet.

Later in the night, I now realize that the Amboy Dukes are not from Perth Amboy. I have been fooled.

Terrible Teddy spends most of his time in Texas now. We are very proud.
