This lady is really not into text message convos, which I can understand, but it’s really hard not to read her curt responses as polite rejection. Even after we’ve agreed to meet soon. So what, I have to remember things I want to tell her IN PERSON? How did you people live like this.
The good thing is, “soon” is today. Finally.

Saw a photography exhibit yesterday that blew my mind... it seriously gave me the same feeling as a good rock show— looking at those photos made me want to give up everything and become a photographer. It was like photography finally “clicked” for me. Very cool.

Chile in 5 days. I was reassured by someone in my Spanish class that even if I were fluent, I wouldn’t be able to understand the average Chilean because they have such accents and use so many Chilenísmos. So, uh, hopefully I can find a good paper map and not get lost in an enormous city where nobody speaks my language.

There is this dumb-feeling very vague project ("something with the subway") that my socialist group wanted to work on, and I kind of became the defacto point person because nobody else was leading it, and suddenly all the pieces clicked in a discussion and I realized we have the potential to do a REALLY COOL project with one very specific, very attainable demand.

But, um, I might need to talk to someone I trust at work about the optics of me working on a project with an activist organization where we make demands of the city. I truly believe that our request is unassailable and can't imagine anyone I work with disagreeing with it. But doing these kinds of things can piss people off. I guess I can always be the behind the scenes guy, that's more my speed anyway.

Ready to move to Chile. I don’t understand why every time i go somewhere with slightly different apartments and different food in the grocery store i want to move.

Ash, my grandparents said sometime they see this amazing South American fruit at Whole Foods in LA. Chirimoya, but maybe in Mexico/the US they call the related fruit guanabana? It’s super weird looking but like a ... pineappley banana? Damn, it’s very good.

My great aunt who is a famous (in Chile) fortune teller read my palm. Normally I think fortune tellers beat around the bush and say vague shit, but she was going hard.

1. You're not meant to live in New York, you will leave soon
2. You're going to be married in the next 2-3 years
3. You'll meet her this year
4. 2 kids, a girl and a boy
5. You're going to switch careers and do something with teaching, you're going back to school somewhere prestigious

I feel like there was some more hyper-specific stuff that I forget. But she also said 3 or 4 untrue things about my personality.

Also, it's all made up.

This sounds like some version of the "When are you going to settle down with a Nice Girl and raise a family?"

I mean, a really cool version with fortune telling, but still...

It seems like it’s going backwards. She’s housesitting for a month for someone my age who lives in a really fancy condo. But i don’t know of any hipsters moving there.

I think I'm saving a shocking amount of money every month by getting trinidadian food when I don't feel like cooking. $4 for a meal with enough leftovers for lunch. What a nice neighborhood.

Sweet potato, rice, plantain and curried seafood things?

Count me in on that action.
