I just realized that maybe they look shitty on my computer because I have a shitty laptop with a bad screen. Hmm.

It could definitely be some instagram thing though. There are some effects like "sharpen" that i maybe shouldn't be using.

[wombat]

I wasn't following you on Instagram. My mistake.

You need to get people to let you into buildings across the street to take pictures from a better angle. Think of the interesting conversations that might get you into.

[theinevitable]

i am definitely not allowed to go into people's houses to take pictures. Hmm. I will write some notes on them though.

Also: how many times will I go on dates, think they have gone really well and get a warm fuzzy feeling, only for the girl to start ignoring me? Will I eventually stop feeling foolish excitement? Hard to say.

My feeling is you rock these ladies so hard they just can't believe it's true. I mean, you're good looking, you have a seemingly infinite well of interesting things to talk about, and you can lay the pipe like a porn star. You're just too good to be true, Dan. So they have to invent reasons why you're not all your cracked up to be. Seriously, you're breaking hearts all over the five boroughs. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a Reddit thread about it.

[theinevitable]

True. Not "laying pipe" tho, I am still real bad about making moves. I have only slept wth one person since moving here.

Uh, the girl with the boyfriend just dumped him. At the exact moment where I was coming around to "she's not interested and I should move on." A lotta stuff going on.

Also I got drunk at a party of all middle-aged people and told an obscene story and the reaction was Very Negative. I got to a point of no return before I realized what was about to come next and decided to keep going instead of stopping. Maybe a mistake.

Look, I don't care how old you are, if you live in New York City maybe you should not be shocked by an oral sex reference. Like the longer you've lived here the more bad shit you have probably seen/heard. But, Sorry, sorry, sorry.

[theinevitable]

Yikes, that was weird as fuck.

Just got back from a (date?) with a girl I drunkenly posted about on here many times back in the day, who I made out with once in college. She lives two and a half blocks away from me on the same street, and has been minutes away from my door the whole time I've lived in New York. We hung out for four hours, including a very long walk and getting drinks with another friend from college (this was a super weird part: she asked if it was OK if she sent a text, and then apparently texted this girl to come meet us without asking. This is pretty clearly not what you do if it's a date so maybe that's all I need right there). We are both socially goofy and basically I have no idea what was going on. Was this kind of a date? Is she into me? Was this just two nice friends catching up? Was she acting kind of nervous and giggly or is she always like that? Were she and the other girl talking about me with conspiratorial faces when I came around the corner from the bathroom? (yes they were)

Guys, I hate this. I have had enough experience over the last ~15 years to know that I cannot tell when women are interested in me. I always think they are, unless I think that they're too good for me and I'm trash. But usually both at the same time. In this way I manage to be always wrong.

[theinevitable]

this is the infamous girl who told me she wanted me to sleep over, and then later told me "I can put my legs behind my head," and I decided she was very drunk and funny and I fell asleep after kissing her for like 2 hours.

[wombat]

I dunno but just from this, even if she is into you, I'd say run in the opposite direction.

[wombat]

I mean, if nothing else - I forget exactly how old you are now, but aren't you old enough that you can reasonably have a baseline requirement that the people you date act like adults?

[theinevitable]

Frankly I don't even know if I act like an adult. But I'm 29. This girl is I think 31!

Woke up realizing that she also fibbed to stall so this friend could come meet us. Why? I don't get it.

[wombat]

Well I have no idea whether you are less mature in real life than you seem on the internet... but you are certainly too old to date someone who acts like they are in middle school.

Maybe she wanted a threesome?

[AugustWest]

Just because I think they're over-rated

Sort of jealous that you have an opinion on this, but I guess you'd say I shouldn't be.

[wombat]

Yeah, sure, she wanted a threesome, that's the most likely scenario. Right.

You know, while Ash's advice is good in general I don't know if it was necessary in this situation. What Inev calls the "super weird" part sounds to me like this woman was acting like an immature asshole. So who cares about her answer to the question? If this is someone who puts you in the position of having to ask "Hey, you are acting like an immature asshole, what's up with that?" don't you already know what you need to know about her?

[Carlos del Vaca]

I'm mostly with Ash on this one. You're too old to deal with bullshit. If you want to clear up whether it's a date or not, ask. If she says no, fine, her loss, move on.

Wombles has a point, though. Why does she need to call for backup?!?
