I don't know, sometimes you get to a place where life seems pointless without love?  I've been there.  I met a sweet girl I'm probably going to marry on one of those apps.  I stopped doing speed for real and smoking cigarettes.  You can hear my bands album on spotify.  Keep trying InBev?

[KeithHernandez]

Keep trying but realize what everyone is saying is the right actual answer though!

[theinevitable]

The girl apologized and we screwed until we passed out in a sweaty little pile. Not really the end I was expecting. I guess if I'm gonna do dumb things it is sometimes better to do the "I can't believe I did that" ones than the "I can't believe I didn't do that" ones.

Always.

LOOK OUT, giraffe! THE MAYOR IS COMING FOR YOU ALLS!

Yeah, I didn't catch any damn giraffe. I caught a hossshoe crab, but they're not good eating so I let it go.
I only went out a couple times, and my gear is not well suited for ocean giraffeing (when we go to the Outer Banks we rent a place on the sound, so I giraffe there). I didn't the people around me catching much either.

Injuries sustained during beach week: closed beach chair on my finger, cut finger with shell while picking crabs, poked thumb with giraffe hook.
Conclusion: the beach is bad for your hands.
Otherwise, awesome week. We didn't get horribly sunburned! major victory! And I ate many good seafoods and drank many good beers!

well, my roommate thinks we have bedbugs. This isn't great.

[theinevitable]

Went to a social for the socialist group I'm in. It was pretty overwhelming and awkward. Only one person I know showed up, and she knew everyone and was always deep in conversation with big wigs. Everyone I follow on twitter was there and it was in a loud bar where I couldn't hear anyone because I have ruined my ears with loud music.

But I am childishly proud because after half an hour I tried to leave, but I forced myself to walk back down the block and stand there smiling with a beer until I had at least one conversation. I talked to the nice girl and she introduced me to a few of her friends. Good job.

Tomorrow a specially trained dog comes to our apartment to look for bedbugs. I hope the dog does not find any bedbugs.

[wombat]

At least a dog is coming! Trying to find a bright side...

[theinevitable]

The dog was cute! And did not seem to detect bedbugs. But what is biting my roommate?

[wombat]

Not your problem if it's not biting you?

Seriously though, is he sure it is happening at home? If he is getting bitten by bedbugs somewhere else it is only a matter of time before he brings them home, so worth thinking about.

[theinevitable]

An exterminator came and confirmed my roommate's theory that I thought was wishful thinking: we have carpet beetles. They live in clothes/bedding/carpet and their eggs give some people an allergic reaction. Good. (because they die easily, unlike bedbugs).

My parents are coming to visit the first week of August, and I tried very hard to get them to get a hotel in a cute area, but they managed to pick a place at an intersection with 24/7 honking and loud overhead train lines. I kind of wanted them to be pleasantly surprised by how quiet and cute some parts of Brooklyn are. Oh well.

[theinevitable]

Yes, we will have a blast. My sister is also temporarily living here so we will all hang. The older I get and the more I interact with people with fucked up parent relationships the more I appreciate mine.

I guess it's a good sign about Brooklyn's current reputation that my parents would not be more worried about picking a hotel. I just hope they can sleep.

having the parents here is fun. We have eaten some good meals and walked around my neighborhood a bunch. I am pleased, because they are impressed by my neighborhood and keep saying that I undersold how awesome it is. They also commented that "every man here looks like you." This is true. Mom and sis left on an adventure yesterday morning so today is All Dad Time which will be fun.

My sister is trying to engineer a meeting between me and her very cute friend who "likes all the same stuff as [me]." Based on how different my preferences are from my sister's this could mean anything from "this girl literally likes the same stuff as inev" to "this girl likes things [sister] thinks are weird." Either way, there is something very sweet (not pathetic, not pathetic, not pathetic) about being set up by your little sister.

My sister has been living here this summer and it's interesting getting her perspective on the city. Every once in a while she says something that reminds me that even though she seems very grown up to me now, she is 21 and has never lived in an apartment and has only interacted with rich people her whole life. Yikes.

[theinevitable]

Did some canvassing for a city council candidate, got new library books, went to a rally in solidarity with the people killed/injured in Charlottesville, and running for a job in my socialist group tomorrow. Uh, I am running for a position where 4 people are running for 4 spots... so I hope I don't somehow lose.
