What the hell's an umfriend?  Is this one of those wacky things you 20-somethings are doing these days?  Does it involve Jello?

Ahem. An umfriend is an individual with whom is in an uncertain confirmation state -- something different from a friend, but not in any sort of official relational status. As in "this is Austin, my... um... friend."

Also highly useful in seventh grade as a term for those friends upon whom you have raging crushes.

Aw man I wish I had an umfriend, that sounds like the best.  That's like the magical time in a relationship when your having all the sex, but you don't have to do any of the icky stuff yet like meet the parents or go to the ballet.

Umfriend definition:

And for the record, I posted that about three years ago.

Oh, Jough, tell me it's not a serious relationship.  No, no, not because I was going to give up my taboo on messageboard-tyrant-crushes...

I don't have serious relationships.  I have the peculiarity of having women fall in love with me whom I want really little to do with, and have the misfortune of falling in love with women who think of me like a brother.

And I resolved long ago not to act on my internet crushes for more than ten minutes - but I'm sure there are private places in the National Zoo somewhere...

Someone make Jough stop flirting with me!  I'm old enough to be his, um, much older cousin, or something.

So, no, I will not show you the steam tunnels and the scary dirt-floored basement (where we bury the remains of annoying patrons who haven't been fully consumed by Damaraland mole rats)  where nobody ever goes - anyway not when you are already bringing a girl, for pete's sake.

See, you should just start stocking mole rats in the scary dirt-floored basement -- it'd save a lot of time for everyone involved, and it gives them a chance to consume at their leisure. Win-win!

I'm seeing great 70's horror involving little mole rats now. Millions of the little buggers.
Excellent.

I have always imagined a horror film involving HUGE Damaraland mole rats.  But millions of the small ones would be good too.

Awwww... and the girl wouldn't mind.  She's very understanding (a necessary trait for someone who used to go out with me).

The better to imagine rodent horror movies: there are now some pictures of the biting mole rats on my web page.  Just scroll down past the sweet pictures of the howler monkeys (the better to lull the viewer into a false sense of security.)

I used the word "bitingest" today in a sentence.

Wow. The rock Hyrax looks like, well, if a family of gophers inbred themselves for about 20 generations, then one of them mated with a similairly genetically challenged beaver, then the offspring put on 50 lbs, then sat around never moving, eating pizza, watching Fox, and yelling in it's best hick accent 'stay off of mah damn yard you filthy yunguns'.

My imagination is fairly active tonight.

I can't see or hear of an echidna without commenting that the echidna's c*ck has four heads. Check this out for a pick.

Please don't ask why I know this.
