What the dong does "statutum tempus" mean, anyway?  "Statute Time?"  If it were "statutum tempus est," that'd mean "Time is a Statute," which still doesn't make any damn sense, but moreso than "Statute Time."  "Tempus" is neuter, so "Statutum" is accusatory... hell, I don't know.

WHAT THE DOOONNNNNGGGGGG

Well, the cat c*ck is up again.

I'm going to have to start using this phrase in everyday conversation.

I purchased it, but I am slightly miffed that it is six bucks for basically a 24 page 'zine, 22 pages of which (sans illustrations, granted) were available on the blog.  I have been waiting for a wonderful tale for a while now, in the hopes that it would be a novelette-length thing of wonder and beauty.  This is still pretty cool, despite the fact that with shipping it's like ten bones for a bunch of xeroxed pages.

Also I was sad that nice pete would not personalize-- so when I ordered volume six I asked that nice pete be somehow included.

Also: despite my whining, I love this comic and i love nice pete and my petty whinging should not be taken in such a way that a dude will say such as "then don't buy it ass-face" or "stop complaining about things that you get for free."

gee guys i don't know if things can back to the way they were now that ray and beef are murderers and what effect will this have on phillipe and A BLOO BLOO BLOO

I think I love you.

It should be obvious to all that Beef is going to be the winner.  Everything that has transpired up to this point, EVERYTHING, has been carefully orchestrated by Beef.  Beef's concession is just a continuation of this.  Remember that when Beef said what he said there was still the matter of Rudy Cava to deal with.  Beef is going to win the GOF.  Allow me to reveal how Beef is going to do it.  Right at the moment of truth Ray is going to be suddenly distracted by the appearance of his Mother.

Oh and I like how Ray's taunts are very reminiscent of his tauntings of Marmaduke and Cathy and etc..

~Paul

I don't know about this.  It seems to me that Beef cares more about the winner of the fight being a total badass.  Beef's dialogue seems heartfelt to me.  The fact that he says "You can't kick just three asses and win the Great Outdoor Fight.  No one would respect you."  sort of backs me up here.  What does that say about a man who kicks one ass and wins the great outdoor fight?

I think he's fully ready to lay it down for Ray.

However, I don't think Ray's going to win.  I think it's more likely that he either will get beat down by Rudy Cava, or when the time comes he'll be all unable to do the deed and some bizarre confluence of events will lead to roast beef being the winner.  I just don't think he's harboring any secret desire to pound Ray and go on to take the title.  If he does end up winning, it'll be due to something else.

All that shit said, I really loved this strip.  The SLIF, the slap-dap, the perfect dialogue.  KEEP IT COMING SIR ONSTAD

I can't believe y'all ain't lovin' this strip.

I'm with you, my doggie.  I can't believe all these fuckin' naysayers-- always naysaying!  This strip is a goddamn classic of the genre and an explosive climax.  It is delightful.  It is a "FUCK YEAH!" moment in the making.  It makes me happy, and it makes me look forward to more.

GODDAMN GENIUS.  Where is this Christ Onster, so that I may blow him?

Keef, two days in a row, how's it goin' hometown?
I'm still leaning towards Beef mainly for the very reasons you've stated, but he possesses weakness too.  My latest thinking has Ray fall on his sword giving Beef a hollow victory which would be worse for him than if he were defeated.
~Paul

It's goin' all right, g-money; grad-school, workin', Austin.

See, I don't think that's true.  It keeps returning to the fact that when it comes to the fight, Roast Beef is a stone cold motherfucker.  He doesn't get all nostalgic over sporks of Christian Brothers and the notion that he might have to beat up his old buddy; he keeps so goddamn tight-lipped the brother doesn't even have thought balloons.  He wears the shades, he shows no facial expressions, and he straight-up mowed a dude down two days ago.  I know it ain't exactly ripping off the non-moneymaking part of a dude's mandible, but I think Beef's ready to bring the pain.

I just hope we don't get any more interjections from the homefront unless it's really worth it.  Teodor readin' some blogs don't exactly rile the blood.

Hmmm... I suppose we all should have noticed that a feast of *turkey* and *brandy* is a sneaky move by the fight planners.  By this point, you're approaching 48 hours and fear & rage are probably all that're keeping you going.  Unless you're up on meth or something (my guess: roughly ~30-40% of the fight) sleep is a real danger.  Downing a whole glutton's Thanksgiving in one sitting isn't a great idea at that point...

Hey, Rodney did it!  Or at least I think we can assume that Rodney did it.

The longer this goes on, the more I believe that Beef will be the winner.  He has done numerous, elaborate case studies on all of the other contestants, nailing down their weaknesses to one simple achilles heel (Someone mentions the pasta maker pro and your wife spreads!) and one defeating move-- and who besides the Cassandra "Roast Beef" Kazenzakis would know Ray's weaknesses better?  He'll have the old boy hollering "A BLOO BLOOO BLLOOOOOO!" before the fight is over.

Something tells me the utter classlessness of the repast and ambiencelessness of the environs will enrage Ray far more than 2,999 dudes trying to kill him.

The only way you could get Ray more riled up than by giving him Safeway turkey and cheap brandy would be to insult his mama.

I don't know about that-- this is the man, after all, who keeps Boston Market on his speed dial, and who would love to eat nachos for every meal of the day.

You know, I went to see Jandek a few weeks ago, and I felt a lot like I imagine Ray did-- the "I wasn't ready for that this week," but the inability to pass it up.

Personally, I would have called this "Fuck, man!  I barfed!"

I thought this was a great strip.  I also think Ray should let beef use the medallion sometimes.

Quote from: "Bobby Isosceles"
first course: papaya and mango in white balsamic vinegar; second course: grouper and prawn ka pow in thai black bean curry sauce with thai eggplant; dessert: asian pears caramelized in maple syrup.

I may edit this post with the full recipe for the ka pow if people are interested.

I would love your ka pow recipe, although it is likely that I would use chicken or giraffe rather than prawns.

PRAWNS.

Please share!

Arts & Entertainment / So... what've you been listening to lately?
« on: February 01, 2005, 08:49:11 pm »
I can't stop listening to the new Geto Boys album, The Foundation.

Also, the new Camper Van Beethoven album, New Roman Times.

And various Trojan Records box sets-- calypso, club reggae, chill out reggae, rastafari.
