On the Dumbrella Boards a couple of years (and two boards) ago they had a thread in the Super-Mega Party of Fun where they created their own commune membership. That quote is from an image someone put together of the d-boards logo with that saying replacing the usual text when they were wondering how it would all end. In context, it was one of the funniest things ever, and I thought it was fitting to whip the quote out for the board change here.

Does that jog the memory, or am I quoting something only Ferocious J would get?

Space after quote, Space after quote!
/edit

Thank you. I remember the gazebo being on fire was absolutely painfully hilarious at the time but could not for the life of me remember what it was from.

Space after quote is seriously fuck*ng me up on this board too.

Good question, I kinda would like to hear from all of them (though I know where to find FJ), 'specially Nabu. I had an addy for him but it doesn't seem right to pursue it to that extent.

Oh, why not?  Send Nabu holiday greetings from all of us and say we miss him.  What could possibly be objectionable about that?

As for FJ, yeah, we could all go post a lot of comments on his livejournal or whatever it is.  Snub us, huh?  We'll show him.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's had to use ninja edit (er, I mean, "courtesy edit") to remember to put the space in. It's the little things that screw you up, isn't it?

I like that you CAN put a quote right up against the next non-quoted line, should you want to.

HOWEVER, I could easily add "margin-bottom:1em;" to the CSS file, which would add a line beneath the quote.

Howevermore, I tend to space things out visually using the HTML form and would have HUGE spaces under each quote, then, or else have to have the text smack up against the quote while I'm writing it.

Either way, someone is inconvenienced.

I don't actually mind it this way, and I do agree that it's better for everyone to leave it poster-side (and thus give people the option to post how they'd like) than hard-code anything. Really, this doesn't matter that much; it's just one of the little differences I've noticed since board changeover.

On the old board the majority of people ended up having unecessary extra spaces because they didn't realize that the forum "helpfully" added one for you. So I think it makes more sense on the new board to inconvenience the like 3 of us who were used to typing our quotes "tight"

Man, do I love you guys.

From "JL WHERE ARE YOU?" to rampant sex and politics, with a brief jaunt through internet stalking techniques and a brief debate on the pros and cons of the new CSS backbone -- you guys are so predictably random that I could just kiss each and every one of you on your chubby little pink cheeks.

To all the oldbies, I've missed you terribly.  To all the newbies, welcome, and yes, Virginia (hi Va!), there is a Den Mother.  I like what you've done to the place -- all spruced up and with all these new shiny buttons above the friendly little text box here...I hope Jough hasn't been too rough with you while I've been away, so if anybody needs a Care Bears band-aid just let me know and I'll fix you right up.

Like Pedro told you, I've been hugely busy, less with the small one and more so with the schoolwork.  I ended up getting an A- and a B+ this past semester, it kicked my ass but all things considered I like to think I've returned the favor.  I've got two more classes in the spring and one in the fall, and then it's off to Thesis-land for me.  The child is perfectly wonderful, and often infuriating -- he's developed this annoying habit of grinding his teeth -- now that he finally has enough to grind (exactly four) -- and it makes me absolutely insane.  He's not quite walking, but it could happen any day.  (He actually took two steps on Christmas and two more on New Year's Eve but he's not really doing it on purpose yet so I'm not sure if it counts or not.)

Speaking of which -- he's awake.  I will be back soon -- but 'til then -- thanks for remembering...

Wow. It's like... seeing the Sasquatch. Except that it's the nicest sasquatch in the world.

Peace and good luck, JL, wherever your travels may take you.

Thanks...I guess?

The child is down for his nap, and I of course came rushing straight to your arms...but after such a long absence, I don't know where to begin catching up.  What's been going on around here?  What threads do I need to read so as not to post comments that cause you to glance sideways at one another and silently think ill of my manners?  What running gags am I not going to get when I encounter them, as I no doubt will?  Who are all these new people, and what redeeming qualities render them worthy of access to our little sandbox?  (I know y'all haven't gotten so slack that you've stopped brutally hazing new members, right?)

In other words...where do I go from here?

Oh yes.  When I read that I thought, "I hope someone says that about me someday" and totally gave up trying to think of something to post to express my sentiments.

So hey, just be yourself.  The nice sasquatch can do no wrong... and who'd have the nerve to say something if she did?
