Adrian Belew!  Another excellent musician originally from Kentucky.

I just dropped about $15 on AllofMP3.  I have a bunch of Eno, Eno+Fripp, John Prine, Arlo Guthrie, Theolonius Monk, Procul Harum and Roberta Flack waiting for me on Monday.

I've been trying to pay them so I can download some songs but they won't take my money.  Has this happened to anyone else?

I have trouble using one of my Visas to fund my account, because my bank's security service doesn't like the fact that it's a Russian site.  But my other one works.

The first time I paid them since they switched to ChronoPay I had my card flagged and got a call from my bank.  I told them it was okay, and that I actually made the charge, and since then it's worked fine.  With the other card I have I never had any problems.

A lot of banks just flag ANY transaction to Russia, now, just assuming that it is fraudulent.

I haven't heard are you passionate yet, but I think i'm going to Amazon.com right fuck*ng now.

Ok, so I go to amazon.com and when I get there I realize I don't have Ragged Glory or American Stars and Bars so I bought them instead.  Hell yeah, Neil Young in the House.  Also, the Slint arrived today.

I wonder when the new NY album will be out?

How are the two Neil albums you just purchased?  I've been particularly tempted by American Stars and Bars, because it was reissued with On the Beach (among others), which is fantastic.

Also, anyone else annoyed by the titles of some of the songs (especially 'Let's Impeach the President') on the new album?  I mean, it's not like you always have to be subtle when writing about politics, but you also don't have to mushroom stamp me with your viewpoint (even though the idea is a tempting one...).

From this site:

"Starting April 28, fans can log onto Young's Web site, www.neilyoung.com, and listen to the 10-track collection in its entirety, free of charge, said Bill Bentley, a spokesman for Warner Music Group's Reprise Records.

"The album will first become commercially available as a digital download beginning May 2, "and we plan to get it into retail stores as soon after that as we can get them manufactured," Bentley said."

This is actually a problem I've noticed with the crap that passes for political music these days.  I mean, compare guys like Dylan and Guthrie and their well crafted songs with lyrics that didn't beat you over the head with the agenda, it was just part of the song, to Conor Oberst (tiny little man) screaming about "TEXAS OIL WAR BUSH TEXAS YEAH HATE TEXAS OIL."  I mean, even a lot of political punk musicians find a way to avoid just throwing out "we're badassess you're The Man" bullshit, Richard Hell comes to mind, and Jello Biafra to a lesser extent.  But come on, who is really impressed by the political message of "American Idiot".  Give me a break.

oh, this reminds me. There is a kid in one of my classes. He is like, uber-libertarian or something. He listens to Green Day. I want to make him listen to good music.

Who can think of some good punk rock, that is kind of accessible, that isn't "liberal"? Generally anti-government, anti-hippy, anti-elitist stuff would probably be good. I can't really think of anything.

American Stars and Bars = Awesome.  It's actually more of a folky album, but it's got the massive Like a Hurricane on it.

Ragged Glory, i'll have to get back to you on that one.  I listened to it last night, but I was doing something else and didn't really take it in.  It rocks hard, I can tell you that much.

But man, why you gotta send me back to amazon.com for On the Beach?  Haven't I spent enough already?  I keep putting off getting that one because it's such depressing (albiet awesome) album.
