When trying to find out what the hell Jough was talking about

The lead singer of INXS accidentally killed himself performing autoerotic asphyxiation.

See, cutting off blood flow to the brain shortly before climax results in a superiour orgasm, especially so in women, which is why so many girls like to be strangled during sex

Hutchence figured if it was good during sex it must be great during masturbation.  The wanker took it too far though and killed himself.

Kinda gives a new meaning to "Suicide Blonde."

I have a copy of their "Kick" album and it still sounds good.  It is a good album.  "Never Tear Us Apart" is a quality song.  "Devil Inside" too (although I can't sing along with it anymore without singing 'Intel Inside').

When Andre the Giant was a wee lad (well, not very wee), he was too big to fit onto the school bus. So he had to get rides to school every morning with his next-door neighbor. And that neighbor was SAMUEL BECKETT.

Truth is stranger than etc.

Only if he made it...

If so, it would be an exciting end. Climatic, even.

I had an awkward moment with friends a while ago when I made a joke about Autoerotic Asphyxiation. I tried to explain tactfully, and they just would not get it. so I ended up being very blunt. It was unfortunate.

You know, I don't think we've been introduced, but after that statement, I have to say hello.

Hello Bozack. I hope you 'take a shine' to me, because after seeing photos of you you look like you could take me in a fight.

BAD Judy!

I was trying to fit in the word 'ejaculation' somewhere, but it didn't come out right.

Michael Hutchence had the best death ever.

You know, on the VH1 Behind the Music*, they play it as a suicide.  Knowing what it actually was makes a lot more sense, and also explains all that hemming and hawing that went on with the announcement/statements.  It's both more and less of a sad story.

I have been EDUCATED.

Also, if you were in The Princess Bride, would you not carry it around with you?  If I was even remotely recognizeable in it, I'd wear a portable DVD player around my neck and keep it cued at all times.  Unless maybe I played Prince Humperdinck.  I'd be all, "That was ME!  I'm the one who told the Count about Inigo giving us some trouble!  Let's watch it again!"

This reminds me that I am INCENSED about this latest release of the DVD, because I bought the damn DVD when it first came out and it doesn't have anything but the movie on it, and now I have to buy the movie AGAIN and then I get to buy it again in five years whenever the format wars are over.  GEEK RAGE

*I am sorry for watching this.  I do not do it that often.

Also: I can't fault anyone for owning INXS music.  I put them in the "made their music and became popular" category rather than the "made their label's music in order to be popular" category.  I don't have real evidence of this.  It is an opinion.

Also more: the whole reason I brought this up is that I have a theory that your very first music purchase with your own money usually says more about the tastes of people around you than your own tastes.  Most of my early purchases were based on what I thought my friends would like rather than what I liked.  What do you think, kids?

No way dude.  Just because YOU were a poseur doesn't mean that we all were.

yeah, I was a pretty big poseur.

Although I am so much more Pure than any of my other indie-lovin' friends, because until I was like 14 I only bought a few CDs. And the first year of me liking music was All Beatles, All the Time. So my CD collection is pretty much good... there are only a few really really shameful albums. And then a few that are embarassing, but I can justify them as Hip at the time (at least, hip among my age group. Jet? Even then I knew that Jet were rip-off artists. But I own the album.)

I guess that to  an extent was true with, whichever INXS album it was. I was given a T Shirt by a friend, and I had no idea who this band were, so I bought an album. Listened to it a few times and then well, obviously 'parted ways' with it a considerable time ago, as I have little memory of owning it. So I'll blame others happily for that one.

And I'm sorry Jough, but I still can't forgive myself for it. I think it was Kick as well, and I while I do recall not hating one track by the end of my time with it, it really just... wasn't my bag. Which was a line from an INXS song no?

Oh, Slink, don't be sorry for not liking INXS. I'm just saying that when I got "Kick" (by accident, because I had forgotten to send back the card that said "Do not send me anything this month, Columbia House Record Club") I listened to it and liked a few tracks.  I just didn't know that INXS was considered not a good band until recently with their stupid reality TV show to pick a new singer.
