I am excited for the 2-0 start of my Packers, but I think that the Chargers have a little something to prove, and will most likely prove it this week.  At least this will keep our young team from getting too full of themselves.

It probably looks like I'm destroying Keith in the baseball finals right now, but a closer look at the stats reveals just how precarious my lead is:

3 runs
1 HR
1 SB
1 W
5 K
0.08 WHIP

A decent-sized gust of wind in the other direction, and I'm looking at a 7-3 deficit. God, I wish the final was only one week. I don't feel so great about the sustainability of this lead.

The interesting thing about Pretend Football is that every week, I seem to have the combination of players necessary to win that week and it is just that I use the wrong guys.

It's fascinating.

actually, we are tied and both have a guy who catches passes from Brees playing tonight.  Mine is a tight end, so you will probably win, but still.

There are 49 running backs with better numbers than Maurice Jones-Drew, yet he remains on the can't cut list.

I'm not quite ready to dump him yet, but if he can't at least put put a 50 yard game sometime soon I'm going to need that roster spot.

As bad as my team looked after the auto-draft, I was afraid to further modify it for fear I'd only mess things up even worse. Figures I'm third place now. Only in the screwy NFL.

I would also like to mention that my lead in the baseball final is down to 6-3 after being up by 9-1 as recently as Thursday. Is it worth it to make the final round only to see your team choke in historic fashion? I'm awaiting the answer.

I'm still cautiously watching my auto-drafted team and seeing how the whole fantasy system works.  I've switched kickers because apparently San Diego doesn't believe in field goals, and no matter how studly your kicker is, he doesn't earn fantasy points sitting on his ass.  Maybe they should get some credit for touchbacks or coverage stops inside the 20.  I picked up Dallas' kicker and he's doing much better.  OK kicker + lots of field goal opportunities > awesome kicker knocking in PATs.

That's been one hell of a final, and looking at the recent transactions for the past week it's obvious Radiodread has been fighting tooth and nail to make up that deficit.  Two days left in the season, and in only two of the ten categories does one team hold a comfortable lead over the other, both in his favor.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to pick up some extra stolen bases to get a third-place sweep.  Not quite the series I had hoped for, but at least LFM can take solace in the fact that we are also matched up in the hockey league this week, where he will likely kick my ass.

Turns out Niedermayer wasn't fragged, he... retired?  At least he's not on the don't cut list anymore.  I could have had a much longer season ahead.  Not that that's saying much.

Yeah, it looks like Keith is taking the "cut the motherfuckers who don't have any more scheduled starts" approach. It's actually quite brilliant.
