The funny thing about my enormous pitching staff is that it came about entirely by accident. Perez, Mitre, and Escobar were all added for spot starts late in the week a couple of weeks back, and then I realized they were better than most of the other guys on my staff and kept them around. It's actually really easy to shuffle players when they're all pitchers, though, since you can check which ones are starting days in advance, and even with twelve pitchers I've never had so many guys starting that I had to bench a reliever.
It's also working out a lot better than my original strategy of ignoring home runs and trying to take the other offensive categories instead. Even in fantasy ball, a home run is also an RBI and a run scored, making it three times more valuable than a stolen base. The whole carousel thing would probably be a better idea if I had at least a couple more position players, though. Poor Chipper finally got hurt this week, and the best I could do was move Mark Teahen to third and start Chipper in the utility spot, as a sort of symbolic act to show that I would bench him if I could. At least I'm fielding a player at each position again... for a short while, I had a grand total of zero catchers on my team (not counting Mauer).
I managed to trade one pitcher for Soriano, which will help that situation a bunch, but it would really help if I could just get rid of Carlos Zambrano. On a normal fantasy rotation he'd be okay, but alongside all my other guys he's dead weight, and I can't cut him. I'll give him away if I have to, but it would be nice if I could package him with someone else in a two-for-one deal for somebody I'd actually keep.
