Wine: Keep a red and a white on hand at all times. When choosing wines on the wine aisle, use this simple rhyme to make your selection: “Closer to the floor, is meant for the poor / closer to the lights, is more like for if Bono comes over.” -=RAY=-

I'm old-school - I remember when all porno had hirsute women. You might say those were my formative years. I enjoy variety. My question is, do the young fellows freak if the first lady they get with actually doesn't shave? You know, because they've never seen an image of a woman who didn't go for the depilated look? It would cast rather a pall over the evening if a young man in that situation started wondering what sort of creature he was dating.

You know who we should ask? The new guy - Poonhog. He'd probably have an opinion about it.

We used to have an expression, "put a little hair around it" that somehow seems quaint now.

My personal preference in ladies area grooming is trimmed, but unshaven.

It's all pink on the inside...

I'm pretty confident any young fellow who has this problem has a whole host of more serious ones he should be dealing with first.

Pubic hair is not exactly a closely-guarded secret.

Huh. But it seems to be a closely guarded secret that women aren't naturally size 2.

I think we at one point talked about amusing shildhood misunderstandings, but I can't be assed to go and find it. However, I think you'd be surprised with some of the beliefs that people held in that thread. Also, I was being half-facetious.

I think you're talking about my post and the brief sub-discussion about gender dynamics that ensued.

Personally, my parents were naked, hairy hippies, so I was actually surprised to grow up and learn that pubic hair was hypothetically unattractive.  Although it did take me quite a while to figure out that women aren't naturally shaped like underweight boys with fake breasts.  But then again I was an unusually neurotic kid.

(I)t did take me quite a while to figure out that women aren't naturally shaped like underweight boys with fake breasts.

See, this is what I'm talking about. That wasn't your personal environment, but that's what you accepted as normal. I hate that shit (no reflection on you; I hate that about the culture).

People, teach your children that women are naturally curvaceous, for the most part. Women are supposed to have hips and bottoms.

You know what's really fucked up? Even though the average American woman is something like a size 12 or so, that does not appear to be the most popularly represented size in clothing. How fucked up is that? It's institutionalized in the fashion/garment industry to more or less force women to be constantly trying to lose weight.

"Hey, you're a size fourteen? Too fuck*ng bad, all we have is size eights. Rice cakes, sweetheart."

Ok, now I'm angry again.

personally, I prefer less hair. But, you know, some is good.

I really want to find this "best of craigslist" thing I read where a woman wrote a note to the woman who gave her a brazilian wax and did a really nice job.

One part involved the wax being too hot, and the lady blowing on The Area to cool down the wax.

yes!! I love this shit.

Also: I am thinking about this too much, and I am starting to think that my preference for, er, the shaven variety is due to Context and/or lack of experience. I mean, my sample size is small. basically.

I am trying to state the facts in a way which is not crass.

Well, hey, whatever floats your boat, you know? I guess I'm really wondering if, if things have already progressed to the point at which it becomes relevant, hair density in the area is going to be a make-or-break thing. The current Gentleman Caller doesn't seem to have a problem with it, but if I return to the dating scene, I don't want to accidentally stun or repulse a new Gentleman Caller with the landscaping down there.

In any event, I suppose it's a moot point, because any dude who's going to be repulsed by area hair will probably be repulsed enough by my hairy forearms not to make a move anyway. In that regard, they're a good advertisement of the state of things.

I'd say any person who would get to that point and then reject another person based on the fact that they haven't removed the hair that naturally appears on their body is pretty shallow. By the time I got to know my wife enough to find out what was going on in the 'business area' . . . well, let's just say there isn't anything that could realistically have shown up that would have been a deal-breaker.

I am definitely a fan of the mostly-natural look... completely shaved lady-tackle is not my thing at all... but I suppose if you have a complete 70s porn 'fro down there, trimming it back just a little bit would probably be nice.

Y'know, like, how on a dude, a bushy beard can be rugged and handsome but... y'know... sorta trim it a little just so that it's even and you can still eat without needing fifteen napkins and stuff? Like that.

There is something ever so vaguely and ever so creepily... pedo... about the completely shaved lady-area. Sort of like I almost wanna blame the fashion industry for it, too, another way to try and make adult ladies look like... teenage boys who are into older men.

This is nothing against gay fellas, I am a huge fan of gay fellas... but there is this small segment of gay fellas who seem to be trying to take vengence upon the straights by making the fashion industry all about making women look like teenage gay boys to ironically punish us for holding us down.

And I am just like:

"Dudes, don't punish me, please. In my opinion, you can totally marry. I am a huge fan of Kids in the Hall. Please don't make women look like hairless, thin-hipped breastless teenage boys. I will vote for whatever propositions you need to get the gay marriage thing going. Just... stop. You are better than this Rod Sterling-esque revenge tactic."

You will not let us be with little twinky boys... we will make your WOMEN little twinky boys!

No thank you. I dig on Amazons and chunky girl next door types. Leave me out of this.
