so, how do these things work when you're... not 19? does he still have to say like "will you be my girlfriend Somebody nice?" or is that as immature and lame as it feels?

Heh... not, it still feels lame and silly. Our conversation went something like this:
Me: "So...can I introduce you to my roommates as my boyfriend?"
Him: "Yes!"

Later:
Him: "You know, you didn't have to say that just to keep up appearances with your roommates...I'd really love to be your boyfriend."

Now I just have to come up with a clever nickname for him... not Technical Staff, not The Gentleman Caller... I'll have to come up with something.
