I really can't explain why I clicked on that link, but yes, if anything it just shows Paul's super-mad photo skillz.

I thought that wasn't Paul on there, just some other dude getting a boil lanced?

I was hoping Paul would also get pics and we'd have a boil-pic face off.

Sorry to hear that AD, life just doesn't stop eh?

... link to this. Didn't seem worthy enough of it's own thread but that's quite a clip in my view.

I felt obligated to click.  I'm glad it wasn't an exploding boil.

...pack for a week in South Carolina. The in-laws moved there over the summer to closer to my sister-IL who moved down there for college years ago. I've never been, but I hear they have big gross bugs and something called "sweet tea."

So I'll either be online a lot less, or way, way more.

Carolina sweet tea is its own species of the broader southern sweet tea and unrecognizable to northern sweet tea.

Isn't "sweet tea" just... iced tea with simple syrup as the sweetener instead of sugar?

I mean, that sounds nice and all and possibly even superior, but that hardly sounds like A Thing that needs to be differenciated with a separate name and to be heralded as a great regional tradition.

Sometimes, at Starbucks, I put a little of that vanilla powder in my regular coffee.

This is not A Thing That Needs A Separate Name, it is a slightly different way to take coffee.

sweet tea is like God's Own Pee.

So, you know, I guess God has the diabetes pretty bad.

Somehow I knew the sweet tea crack would turn into a thing. Actual question, what is Carolina barbecue? The SIL works at Stickyfingers, which doesn't seem any different than Famous Dave's or Red Hot and Blue. But their owner did buy the double Colbert painting, so they've got that going for them.

Sweet Tea Crack... now thats an idea worth investing in. My best memory of carolina sweet tea is one of dream quality. The tea was served with clear rock sugar crystal that settled at the bottom and was topped with knobs creek and mint.

A thing is just a thing, nothing you can do about it.

I think Carolina bar-b-que is more vinegary than other types, but I have never had it.

I am pretty sure that that is correct. My family aren't from Around Here, and so I am forgiven (and yet, judged) for not knowing these things.

Today, I'm gonna work on that paper, go to a christmas party I don't want to go to (explaining what I'm majoring in to people's parents, explaining that Washington University in St Louis is in St Louis, not Washington State), and marvel at how clever some of the names kids came up with for their radio shows next semester are.
(I think my favorites are Non-Stop Birthday Party, A Jew Named Sue, 5 and 1/2 Years of Braces, and my own, Restless Leg Syndrome). I am really sad, because these two girls were going to do "Yours Truly Radio," where every week they wrote a letter to a different musician and read their responses on the air, but they got lazy or chickened out.
I also enjoy that one show has the explanation "Esta musica cambiara tu vida.  (Natalie Portman, like, she said it, in Garden State! We love that movie. She is so quirky and unique. Indie Rock!!! YAY!!!!!)"
Actually, I am not sure whether I hate or love that show description. I care a lot about whether I think it's funny or obnoxious, and I just don't know.
