Probably right

...Today I will recover from my brother's 21st dinner at a ridiculously lovely restaurant my parents took us to (with some very tasty cocktails in the bar). I have an Australia day barbecue to attend this arvo and then I must gather my chi to prepare for the clubbing section of his 21st celebration on sunday night. Thank Cook monday is a holiday.

I wish Keith was around; I don't know how much gin to mix these with.

You really shouldn't mix gin with oxycodone, scotch gives them much more of a kick.

Be careful.  I usually like a couple drinks with things like that.  Like, a couple.  I don't like drinks too much though.

Well hell, they're only 5 mg. So I figured 6 of 'em and maybe 6 or 8 drinks. Seems about right so far.

Tomorrow: a less confrontational A-cap.

What would be the fun in that?

...go see a concert with several friends, including a girl who is adorable. She asked me to be in a rock band with her (those were her exact words, "rock band.") When further pressed, she said
"like... velvet underground. no more folk shit." Apparently she has been in a lot of folk bands because that is the type of band people think to form with an adorable girl with an acoustic guitar. She wants to play synth/keys in this one. I am going to use songs I have written for this band, I have decided. She has formerly expressed admiration for a song I wrote, so I am going to contribute this song and others.
Then me and her roommate went to this party (she didn't want to go alone) in this really cool old apartment building downtown. her friends were all very drunk and very high, and I am now a tiny bit of each.

Tomorrow me and a different subset of the same people are going to dinner downtown, and then to the symphony. Then, a huge radio station party.
Have I mentioned that I am rapidly approaching broke? I spend my money horribly. Good lord. I am bad at knowing when to say no. This week I got dinner out, the complete cowboy bebop collection, and just now I bought the CD of the band we saw. Maps and Atlases, they were awesome.

Tomorrow I am also supposed to meet these friends to play our D&D campaign which died out last year. We have played exactly once. It is in this completely non-canonical (or whatever the D&D equivalent is) "American West" type world this one guy made up... my guy is a badass sharpshooter cowboy type.
It is like... the other people are completely un-self-conscious about their dorkitude, and I am incredibly self conscious because I only did this thing in the first place because I am trying to be less of a douchebag to this one guy who is the Dungeon Master. Oof.

... apparently lose about 4 hours to sim city 4.
Goddamn that hasn't happened in a while. I'd still be playing except the damn program froze on me and I can't bring myself to load it to see how much progress I lost.

I showed the Lady all her new buildings at uni and directed a german couple to building where some sort of linux convention/seminar was taking place.

I never understood the appeal of opiate pain killers. Ive been down that road and known people who followed it to the dead end. They dont do much for me. I get sleepy?

Today I drink wine. Tomorrow I do work.
And Im now running a two laptop setup which has been fun. A Powerbook G4 and Macbook Pro, both running OSX 10.5.1. If there any mac users here thinking about going to the 10.5, Id recommend it, even the older powerbook is running noticeably faster.

I just got a 250 gb hd and the (pirated) Leopard I have took a long time to boot up and I just used tiger.  I have everything properly backup and everything so will switch soon.

You do a clean install?  No one here knows how to keep things available to seed after a clean install in azureus or transmission, do they?  I mean, can I just open a torrent and tell it that the folder where the actual data is where I want to save and have it recognize this?

Opiates are fun because they make you feel amazing.  The fake heroin stuff (oc included) are o.k., but I know a lot of people have become addicted to that.  I don't really have a tolerance, so yeah, it makes me pretty "relaxed."  Better to take a lite opiate and drink, in my opinion.

They make me vomit a lot. I do not get the appeal of Vicodin, Percocet, etc.

Morphine is pretty awesome.   It's a great, hang around be mellow and pee in a bottle kinda high.

Though: I don't think I would have found a bottle and peed in it, had the nurses not given me one and explained to me that catching pee was its solemn duty.

went to play d&d, which was... interesting. Ran across campus from there to a meeting for the radio station I forgot about until right before it started. Walked back, to find an email saying that if we wanted to make it to the symphony in time to get free tickets and have time for dinner, we should take the 4:11 train. It was 4:00. Got dressed as fast as I could, called, luckily they said they were running behind. Ate dinner at a delicious (and astoundingly cheap) thai place, then rode the bus down to the symphony. The symphony was fantastic, but the kids I was with all knew way more about that kind of music than I do. This pianist who played was apparently fantastic, and I only peripherally noticed that.
Then on the way back we got off 1 metro stop early in order to go to a huge party. Too many people I didn't know. Awesome music, though, as it was (unofficially) put on in honor of the start of programming at the radio station. Lots of cool soul and funk. Ran into the girl I am starting a band with, we pointed at each other and said "it's not a joke!" roughly simultaneously. Then this one particular lady came in and I turned into horrible nervous Dan, which... despite the way I talk in here, is not my prevailing personality. She saw me and I said Hi as I walked by, and she got all indignant and made me give her a hug and asked "how are you?" before turning back to talking to some other person. Noticing the behavior of those around her at the party confirmed my concept that she is like the Queen of the Hipsters (and kids who like things hipsters like, but are not assholes). She has studiously maintained this position by not making out with anyone, ever, is the impression I get. So, really, I won here. I danced around for a while, and then was offered a ride home and took it because I was wearing a lighter coat and it had gotten much colder out.

Then I saw this kid who is like 6'3 try to kiss my friend who is like 5'3 and I tried really hard not to laugh, because then they would have known that I turned around to see.
Or, maybe the reason he did that weird jerking head back thing was because he saw that I saw? Who knows.
Today, I am going to do some reading, and clean my room.
