...get to work thinking I have the nice quiet building to myself for two hours before anyone else gets in, then find myself training a new volunteer on their first day.

Then, be a total moron. Like, send an email to another reporter asking a question about a story and then realize, the answer to the question was in the story.  And have to send another email trying to make an excuse for the situation.

I swear it wasn't there the first time I read it. I swear it had been edited out of the version I read, but I'm at work now and can't check my browser history at home. Oh God, can someone go home and delete my browser history so I can keep believing my rationalization?

On the bright side, I'm not positive it was the right email address. I can still hope.  But, don't you hate that thing where you're afraid to check your email?

Maybe the whole idea of trying to have two jobs at once is fatally flawed?

Earlier we were discussing the suffering of a person expected to bring dessert to a Passover potluck. If you can't use flour or any dairy including butter... Sure, fruit, and dark chocolate. But those aren't desserts, those are snacks, you know?

She mentioned a recipe where you put caramel and chocolate and stuff on matzo. We all agreed that it sounded like it would be a lot better without the matzo.

This is why usually at a seder you want to have half an hour or an hour between the main course and dessert. That way you can do dairy desserts like creme brulee, mousses, or flourless cakes.

Busty jewish women are my kryptonite. Like, I have an irrational desire to rail Sarah Silverman. Its a problem for which there is no support group.

Today I'll pretend to work on a cultural analysis paper of the Sopranos, but actually just watch the Sopranos and drink martinis because I have too much gin.

A-CAP, you either extremely need to come visit me at my school, or you should never come visit me at my school.

like as in, I don't know if you desperately desire your kryptonite, or it kills you.

Today I will make custom storage box to exactly fit a shelf  using a needle, thread, an old pair of #####, cardboard, and some other reused items.  I will use the old belt tabs as pull tabs.  It will be absolutely perfect in everyway, and I will be proud of myself.

Also, I will be reminded by others that it is 4/20 and be surprised that there is no longing, no desire for my past life and carelessness left in me.  Almost three and a half years without drugs.  Huh.

Also, I will wonder why the SO has left the TV on downstairs on Retro Teletoon on Rocket Robinhood while he is outside doing yard work.

Also, I will continue to be excited about my restoration of the antique door and hardware I picked up yesterday.  It has been a dream of mine forever to have a house with a red door.  Don't know why, but it always has been.  Is it strange to look forward to stripping paint?  Is it odd to get deep satisfaction out of boiling brass fixtures in vinegar to remove the paint from them?  I'm gonna go take a look at the variety of red paint chips in the good light right now.

Sarah Silverman is a lot less attractive in person.

Way way way too skinny and the whole "bawdy girl" thing is definitely an act. Just another aneorexic starlet with a yappy dog, except a brunette... you know... for variety.

I agree that in certain shows/movies, she was gorgeous as hell but... yeah.

That's not her trick... that's her ILLUSION.

Well, she's an actress, right? Illusion is her business. She's supposed to play people she isn't. Can't blame her for doing her job.

Today I'm gonna clean the Aldabra tortoises, remember why their usual keeper is always in such a bad mood, and continue to be utterly incapable of deciding whether I want to keep doing this for a living.

Oh, and yesterday, a fan stopped me in the street! Sort of. But you have to go read my blog for that story, because I have to get back to work. Next is putting medication on some very angry chameleons.

oh yeah. That is still this school's major natural resource.

yesterday my little brother was here. it was fun, he liked my friends. we went to see the New Pornographers and Okkervil River, both great. We spent an unbelievable amount of money on food. We went to the city museum, which...

I think that all of my childhood dreams came true when I saw the inside of this place.
it's amazing. Things to climb in everywhere, always so small that parents cannot follow. Outside, a huge complex of crazy things to climb on which somehow feel constantly dangerous and exciting despite being hopefully engineered for safety.
There are two small planes integrated into the structure of the thing .

Amazing.

also, I think I have cavities. goddamnit. I have never had a cavity before.

This presumes falsely that having a thing for busty Jewish women is a problem.

During the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists conference last year, which was in St. Louis, one of the evening drink-and-socialize things was at the City Museum. Good times.
