Way to go big G! Is this your first? I can't remember.

And yeah, it's always easier to tell imaginary people big news first. Just a symptom of the world we live in.

...enjoy my 25 hours away from Marine Corps Base Quantico. It's funny how much you appreciate certain things when you don't have them for 5 weeks, like hot water showers. (Seriously people, our hot water heaters have been out since we got here...in June. WTF?)

If the government wasn't blowing so much money on the arts...

Congrats G haus

Today I'm gonna enjoy the rain and ask my best friend to be one of my Women of Honour at the wedding.

Also, I will continue to curse Vista and whatever caused the most recent Windows update to fuck my computer over.  What the hell.  Thankfully my dead batteried laptop will treat me just fine, as it's all freeware.

...arrive home from vacation, look around my cluttered, luggage-and-laundry filled living room, and sigh.

...say, "Congratulations, Golfhaus!"  Need any baby stuff?  I have a perfectly good infant car seat that my kids only used for about five months each.  Hero has outgrown them already so if you want it, it's yours.  Otherwise, I've got a bunch of baby stuff going on Craigslist.  We might have another kid someday, but if we do, it's cheaper to re-buy everything than to keep paying for a storage unit for 3+ years.

...put my son in under##### and hope for the best.  He started taking a serious interest in potty training just before we left for vacation (of course), and even kept his pull-ups dry all day on his last day of school.   So the diapers are gone except for naptime and overnight, and I've got a bottle of carpet cleaner at the ready.  My goal is to have him completely day-trained by the time he goes back to school in three weeks.

...spend some time preparing for my oral exams, which are on Friday.  At last, the final stage of my MA is at hand.

...post a link to some of the pictures from our trip to Sesame Place.  It was a blast.  Highlight of the trip: P and I were swimming, and he waded over to me, threw his arms around my neck, and said, "I'm happy."  Then he took his index finger and drew a happy face in the air.  Adorable.

That's a big ol' awwwwwww.

Also: The best pic. At once capturing that she can see directly into your soul but is also over this whole camera nonsense and would like you to stop taking photos when she was just about to say something terribly interesting and witty.

Oh, by the way, sorry about all the pictures of my swimsuit-clad butt.  Pedro was behind the camera.

Another example of inadequate military funding (or at least inadequately applied military funding) or just another part of the training? We may never know.

I've been grappling with the things like these that I've been hearing.   My understanding was that there were all manner of job classifications in the military for taking care of stuff like thing.   For instance: Someone might be an army plumber, but in addition to that, he might shoot some bad guys.

I guess all that stuff has been outsourced to myriad vendors and contractors.

"Provide for the common defense", was just a suggestion, I guess.

Great pictures.  I'm sad to say that place would have sent my six year-old into screaming conniptions.  She can't abide costumed characters - which is weird because she does love Halloween.  Any time we're at a sporting event, she keeps a hairy eyeball on the mascot - and her anxiety level dials up exponentially with distance.  I have no idea what to do about this, other than humour her.

I was afraid P would be afraid of them, too, but he turned out to really like them.  I think they are prepared for kids to be scared of the adult-human-sized muppets, though, because they only show up in designated places at designated times, so you can seek them out or avoid them as suits you.  (Unless you happen to pass one en route.)  We got a lot of photos of P with the characters because those were the few times when Pedro and I weren't having too much fun to stop and take photos.  Some of the best moments were lost to film because we were just too darn busy living in them.

And I'm OK with that.

Defend my thesis at 10, and then fight my way through University bureaucracy until 3:30.

I got kind of mad at a bunch of 14 year old girls, because on campout they decided they would deduce which of the three male staff on the campout the female counselors were into.
And, yeah, I was the odd man out. Oh well.

The fact that I care about this means that it is very good that I have 12 hours off starting in an hour or so, and an hour and a half more off right now due to silly scheduling mistakes.

Yesterday one of my kids put one of the others in a headlock for sitting on his bed, that was fun.

we're playing Assassin and I am essentially scared to be alone in a room now. However, my offense is immaculate, as I have loudly "bungled" several attacks on a lady counselor who is not my target. So now everyone else thinks they know what I'm up to, and they are off-guard around me.

tonight i hope to see Wall-E, or at least go to Asheville for Thai food. rad.

Oh God, will it be OVER then? I can't stand reliving this, even just vicariously through imaginary Internet people.
