If you have not yet listened to Herbie Hancock (actually you have, since he was Miles' pianist) you should start at the back of his catalog and move forwards.  Headhunters is in my all-time top 5 of anything ever.

Seconded.

Also: Herbie Mann, Freddie Hubbard, Diz.

further stupid, stupid actions at the radio station.
we are revamping our "#####," the program that plays songs while there aren't any shows going on, plays PSAs, does station IDs, etc.
despite multiple conversations about this, our tech director just made it so that the program will select any audio file out of a huge file and play it.
despite the fact that large swaths of it have hella 7 dirty words, and cannot be played during daytime hours.
AGH.

Also, I will check out these various guys.

I am really really into this track. What else sounds like this? Tense, angular, awesome. It is not Dolphy's crazy really-out-there solo, it is the beginning parts that I like... so cool sounding.

I have a bunch of satchmo stuff, but it is so much that I can't handle it. It's "the complete hot 5 and 7's."

Also, I really don't get jazz guitar. Why do people listen to this, other than Django?

I just got a call from Air Force Intelligence (or something scary sounding like that) telling me an officer is coming to my house. They are going to interview me about my friend who is in the air force, apparently he is applying for some position where he needs special clearance?
Awesome/intimidating.

This happened to me a few years ago. A friend of mine was getting a clearance, and a guy came to my house. He wasn't military, though, he was a civilian working for the government. Nice guy, pretty brief process.

Living in the DC area this happens all the time. Probably 10 times growing up I can think of. Once they came like 4 days after I moved to a new apartment and the guy was really annoyed that I hadn't met my neighbor yet and couldn't comment on him.

You should at least check out Wes Montgomery.

Check out Grant Green for jazz guitar.

In my day, it was called "Frottage", and required attending confession before the next Mass.

Oh, that is the part I -do- get.

Today, a guy directed me to a music blog. I did not realize that I was supposed to hate it and think it was stupid? I like it a lot. Now he thinks I am a douche.

Just chanced across a half-written audio play from last summer. Clearly I am going to end up trying to finish it rather than revising. This could end well or badly.

Realizing that I have 3 exams, a big project, and all of my packing to do in the next 4 days.
Why did I think it was smart to spend the last week screwing around? Oy.

Moving things around town is hard without a car, also. And my friend who has a car has a "thing" where he does not understand the concept of favors or owing someone something, and will not lend me his car.

Also: All of these people I know are graduating, and are trying to sell their furniture for cheap. But I don't have anyplace to put it if I buy it from them.

Goddammit.

today, I wrote my first wikipedia article. Let's see how long it lasts.

thinking you're about to get mugged, and then not getting mugged, is really embarrassing.
